Rifle Scopes Badger Ordance 1005-306-07..Base Screws to small!!

I have a Remington 700 338 Police. I ordered a Badger Ordance Scope Mount for the Remington 700 part #1005-306-07. Assuming all is correct today I found out that the BA screws fall in the treads on the barrel? There not even close to specs. Where can I get the correct size mount screws? Where did I go wrong?

Your rifle is tapped for #8 screws. You need a 306-07-8 scope rail, it comes with the the larger screws.

Or have the rail drilled out and find a set of screws.

There seems to be a large lot of #8-40 screws. I feel that I could just find the right length #8?

Where did you buy the base? They may be able to help you out.

The base was off ebay. When I asked the seller about the specs he did not know, for it was a direct shipment from CA. I emailed Badger not long ago asking the specs on the required length #8-40 or if they could send me a set since it was direct from them.

Ebay seller has a No returns No Refund Policy.

What have we learned about buying from Ebay? Seriously though ebay is a complete crap shoot, especially for shooting related items, and their prices are almost always crap.

Im sure Badger can get you the correct screws, but you will have to drill out the rail to accept them.

agreed, you probably could have supported folks like triad who are using their time to help you threw your problem and i wouldnt have cost you much if any extra.

Ok, well can't change the past. Let's move forward. What's the specs for the mount screws. I'm sure I can get the screws at a local shop.

Best bet? Call Badger on Monday and tell them what you have and need.

Alternative? Take the screws you have to a commercial bolt & screw supplier and match them for length with #8-40, but you may have a problem with exact length and will require trimming.

You will have to drill the base.

The easiest? Order the right one from Triad, and hang onto this one for another rifle. All other 700LA use this base.

If you can have the base drilled out, I can get you the #8 screw set for about $7.00. Send me a PM with your contact info.
