Ok, I'm totally lost on the grouping.
I'm assuming when u scale it to 1" you "drag a ruler" over the target.. I can't get it to so a thing.

Then the bullet holes look like 40mm shells hit the target.

Everything in the info says .inf

It took me a few minutes to play around with the group sizing, but once I figured it out, its not too hard. You can change the size of the bullet hole, the default is .50 so its going to be bigger than most bullet holes. It will also scale them when you put enter the range in the data section. That took me a few minutes to figure out, as I kept seeing the distance being 0. It would be nice if you could change that field without having to go to the data page. The scaling would be more easily done if you could enter the value directly instead of squishing or expanding the ruler. I found it helpful to take a picture of a ruler with my target, as my targets don't have 1" grids or rings. I can than make the scale larger or smaller, but my fat fingers make being precise and adventure in trial and error. It would be less difficult if I could just manually enter the value, rather than actually having to slide it. The possibilty of having it use a dial would like on the milranging portion would work as well. I wish the photo could be zoomed in on to make positioning the bullet holes more precise and more easily done. Adding a POA would be a nice feature. From what I gather, the app uses the center of your picture as your POA. I would like the possibility to add more than one group on a target, rather than having to enter a new log entry for each group I want to measure. With all that said, I am still learning how to use many of the features and am extremely pleased with this app. The improvements made over the last month to include the new 3.7 version have really been amazing. This app is a steal for all it does and just seeem to continually get better. It is my favorite app.

Anyone had issues with app crashing when entering multiple winds of differenet values/directions?

Everytime i think of somthing useful that could be added i end up finding it. Love this program....almost convinved my whole platoon to buy this.

Tap the "Grouping" tab, then "Scale Target" to get the ruler. Or you can just tap the PPI value to enter it manually. Then tap the 0.500 and enter the bullet diameter. That's it! There's a simple how to on the website too.

I have a few problems that if addressed would make this app better than I could ever have hoped for when I first bought it.

The first problem is what I think is a minor bug fix, when using the range log for either the zero data sheet or the target data sheet when I press the target button on the top right of the screen I get three options, next preset, choose from library and cancel, it seems that the cancel and choose from library buttons are backwards, when I select cancel I am taken to my photographs and I automatically exit when I press the choose from library button.

Next issue I have is that I import photos of my targets from my HTC Evo which takes wide screen photos; the app distorts the photo to make it fit the available space which makes measurements in one direction incorrect.

Lastly I would love the ability to pinch and drag the picture of the uploaded targets to make them bigger and also get the bullet impacts as close as possible, I am running this app on an iPod and I can’t get my fingers close enough together to scale an appropriate 1 inch section on the bigger targets I am using for long range.

Fix those three things and I would consider this the perfect app for my uses.

when i have the ruler up, i cant adjust it to scale it..

Try buying one of the Stylus' that have a fine point designed for the iPhone/iPod.

What mail client are you using? Not all clients understand inline base 64 but its the only way to get it to show up inline instead of as an attachment.

Re: stretching, I didn't think this was so difficult. I use my thumb and index finger. You ca move your fingers down after stretching and the target will stay put so you can see it while you finish stretching it. I need to make a YouTube I guess.

Moving my fingers further apart vertically once I had the scaling ruler selected worked well to get scaling done correctly so thanks for that little tip.

As far as the error I am having with the target menu I don’t know why it would do that for me and nobody else but it’s not that big of a deal, everything else works for me.

I do no use this field.
Can it be selected or not in the "Hide fields" by the user?

Beside that, how do you use the lead data when you have a target moving right to left and a wind comming left to right?
Is a negative lead value a target coming from left? akd positive coming from right?

While playing around I found that the point of aim is the exact center of the ruler used for scaling your bullet holes. Once you have the scale set correctly you can move the whole thing to your point of aim, there are green crosshairs that run behind the black part of the ruler, center those on you POA and your good to go.

I found the same thing. Once you have the right value for the scale, you simply put the scale on your POA and push the "Done" button. Really the app is very intuitive, it just takes some time to learn to use all the features. Besides this I found that you can actually just enter the data to change the scale without having to pinch it. The more I use it the easier it becomes. I have found I like using the log features on my Ipad best, because it offers a bigger picture. Being able to pinch and stretch the entire picture, without changing the scale relation would make both scaling and placing bullet holes less difficult on the smaller Iphone and Itouch, but the app is still very usable.

A few things:

1. You pinch and stretch the ruler, not the image.

2. Image "Move and Resize" cropping will be integrated in version 3.8, when released. For now, the app does use the center of your image, so center your target.

3. It's going to resize the image to fit in the little box. I'd recommend when you take photos, to zoom in on the 9-10-X rings, or at least just photograph the target alone, and not the background. At least until 3.8 comes out with the image cropping.

4. If you take the pic with the iphone/ipad, it will show you cropping lines so you know what to center.

5. With one finger, you can drag the ruler to the exact center of your image, so if it's off-center, that's fine. The analytics will adapt to wherever you put the center.

Right, negative/positive determine the direction the target is moving.

If you have AE or iPad edition, you can hide lead in Settings by turning off the switch labeled "Display Lead"

So... gmail doesn't support inline encoded images, and iOS doesn't support sending attachments in the format that gmail wants... looks like it's going to be a compatibility war between apple and google... and you are the casualty. If you use another mail client, it should work. I use Apple's Mail app, for example.

I have one more question.
If in settings, I chose "Right is positive" for windage and in the Hud i have a 90 degre wind coming from right.
How come I have a negative value instead of a positive one?
I hope it is clear enough?

Sorry, i don't get it.
If wind is comming from the right, i should correct windage to the right thus have positive value.

Output shows travel, not adjustments... so if the bullet is headed to the right, it's going to show positive... If you want to flip it around, turn it to 'Right is Negative'

to adjust using actual D.O.P.E, not just by how low you hit.

instead of the metric/ imperial whole section change via settings.

being able to select the unit right in the data input as I use for example, alt in Ft. and press in KPa and temp in C distance in M wind in Km/h velocity in ft/s and for them to be able to convert just by switching the units right before your eyes.

You can use truing with actual drop if you turn off "drop is relative" or you can also set it to use inches, cm, mil, or moa

Working on uploading a video to YouTube on the wind kit. In the meantime, if the advanced wind kit is too much to handle, try switching "Simple Wind" to on in the settings, and that will give you a traditional wind setup that you're probably used to.

and keep Path and wind in mil or moa.

Linear wind is explained in the video. It decays from the center of the band to each end as opposed to being constant

If you are still having trouble stretching, try just typing a number in directly.

To delete a shot, tap on the shot cell under "scoring" and a popup will give you the option to delete.

Okay, I can see that. I guess what I'm trying to do is set a reference for a photo of a target that I'm uploading. Is that not something we can do? If not it would be an excellent addon.

I'm not sure I understand. You need to find a 1" spot on the target to mark with the ruler to give Ballistic that reference... if there is no 1" target you could mark something simple in pencil I guess.

Right, that's what I'm trying to do.


Are you saying if I stretch that ppi ruler to a known inch on the target, that regardless of the new number it shows, it will now use that as a 1 inch reference on that target?

Been running Ballistic AE for about 3 years on my ipod touch,love it.
The only problem is,my regular range is high altitude by UK standards.
If i put the numbers in correctly Ballistic AE get's me snack in the center,V bull (or dam near enough) first sighting shot.
But when i go to lower altitude ranges,i find problems.

I am lazy don't always dial my scope to the 100 yard zero position on my scope,my fault

It would be nice if you build a feature into the APP that remembers how many clicks from absolute bottom of the scope to the 100 yard zero.
This would correct my issues.

Example of issues.
Shooting a 308 with a 1000 yards zero at 1000ft above sea level.
Next day shooting same rifle with same zero at 100ft above sea level.

You want to shoot at a 100 yards at 100ft above sea level.

1000 ft HUD settings no good

100 ft HUD setting no good

Why not just set your zero atmosphere to what you last zeroed at?

errrr.. make a zero stop for the scope.... not that hard, many ways to do it... the easiest being a drop of hot glue on the back of the turret so the turret hits that as bottom...

Huge thanks to the op for making tons of updates for this app. I've been trying to get a free code for awhile for the AE version but it looks like I'll end up upgrading when I get back to the states. Either way, I'm loving this app more and more with every update.

ETA: I'm trying to understand "truing" correctly. If I want to "true" my data (using what I dial in on the scope), all I have to do is turn off "drop is relative" and type in my scope adjustments for the different distances?
