Couple of Questions:
I am looking for a high BC Hunting bullet for my HS Precision .300 WSM
1. Has anyone had a chance to play with these bullets? I am wondering how they fit in SAMMI magazines with their added length.
2. Are they as sensitive to jump like berger's

Any info/feedback on these including 300WSM loads would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Barnes .308 200 gr LRX

I use them exclusively as my hunting round in my 300WSM, but I don't load em to SAAMI length, I load mine out to about 2.920" OAL, which is about .05" off of the lands. I get close to 3000fps with em and sub MOA accuracy with Reloader 17, its pretty hot though. If Barnes claim of expansion down to 1600fps is correct, then at the velocity I shoot them at, I should be able to get them to expand out to 1000 yards, which is amazing, but more realistically I think 800 yards is it's max.

Re: Barnes .308 200 gr LRX

Thanks! I have been using the 180 gr TTTX to good affect using RL 17 3025 fps.. I shot this brute at 805 and broke his shoulder. I think the 200 grainers would be even better.

Re: Barnes .308 200 gr LRX

WOW! thats a nice bull!!! congrats. I was originally going to go with the 180's, but when I was in the market for a hunting bullet, Barnes just released the 200gr. LRX (back when it was still the TTSX), so I went with it and I love it. I recommend running them at around 2850-2900 for better brass life, I run em at 2950 though cause I have a lot of brass I need to kill lol.

I have a rather large stash of 165 MRX bullets with the tungsten core I load in my .308. Do you guys know the lower end of their expansion range? Are they good to go at 1800fps too? I can push them a bit over 2800 fps from my 22 inch bartlein barreled 700.

Thanks rusty815. That bull came out of Hells Canyon.... great long range hunting country. How much RL17 are you loading to get to 2950?

I don't know. I will see if I can find out for you....

Re: Barnes .308 200 gr LRX

It depends on the brass, with Win brass I use 64.6gr. that gives me around 2965fps average, with Remington brass I use 63 or 62.7 to get the same velocity, I recommend starting with 59 or 60 grains, it doesn't take as much powder to get this round moving as fast as other bullets in its weight class due to how long it is, to put it in perspective, the 200gr. LRX is the same length as the 230gr. Berger OTM hybrid, at 1.625" which is literally the longest bullet I load for. At least the 200gr. LRX is faster, when I first started loading I thought I was going to get the same velocity as the 230's, but I was pleasantly suprised by my results.

Re: Barnes .308 200 gr LRX

Thanks a lot. I'm glad to here it! I have the bullets on order from Cabelas... the only place I found them. I will let you know my results out of my Win brass.

Thanks. I inherited around 180 of them from my uncle. Thought they might make a nice hunting bullet for deer and elk out to 600 yards or so.
