No loctite. Torque holds it on. 100 ft/lbs is pretty snug.

The caliber stamp ended up at 12 o'clock. That is about perfect. Of course the profiles are vastly different so no chance of me confusing the .308 and .243 even if the markings weren't visible.

LoneWolf, have you shot the new barrel yet? How does it shoot? Are you happy with it?

Shot a ladder with it at 200 and 300. Can't judge accuracy from the ladder, just a charge weight the barrel may like. Going to shoot it Tuesday for accuracy.

I don't have any factory .243 ammo around so I have to run a workup before I can judge anything. Of course this is nice because it also smooths out the barrel a bit.

Got a LOT to do this week to dial this thing in for KPRC next weekend.

Just for kicks, do you know the tenon length on the barrel you had taken off? I am trying to get a comprehensive profile pattern of the barrel I have on my AE MKIII now and I don't have to tools to pull the barrel off at will.

Not yet, anyway.

Here is the result after the load workup:

I have not messed with seating depth yet, so I may be able to shrink it more, but it looks like it will work for my intended purpose.

Same wrench and vice. Procedure is a little different since the AX receiver does not come out of the chassis. I do believe you are supposed to remove the forearm before pulling the barrel.
