I recently built a custom 26" comp gun so my savage 12 LRP in 6.5 creed that I started on is no longer my comp gun. I'd added an adjustable cheek piece, a bottom metal to accept AI mags, a pic rail up front and now my plan is to throw a muzzle brake on it. The question is, should I leave it 26" or cut it down to 20" to make it light and more packable? I'd like to have a gun that the wife can handle and that I can use for hike / shoot field matches. Is this a good option or am I gonna kill my velocity too badly? was shooting 140s great before, might have to drop down to 130s i figured.

yeah I read that and i'm kind of assuming i'll lose about 120-150 fps with the same load, just wondering if its worth it haha. I'm also reading some other reports saying they only lost about 25 fps cutting it down 4 inches

20" proof aiat. I thought id need the lighter bullets, but then I said "hold my beer". 147eldm (.697) at 2725 work pretty dang good, 8.1 drop and 1.6 drift in 10mph fv at 1k.
