At the first of February, I had a custom 6mm creedmoor built. I brought a 1000 rounds of Hornady 108 factory match. The rifle came in and I sighted it in, and break in the barrel shooting 50 rounds and clean and clean then another 50 and clean. However I noticed that It wasn’t grouping very tight, right about 3/4”. I thought maybe it was me that day because I can usually get sub .5 moa groups with my defiance 6.5 creedmoor or it just needed to be shot more to further break in the barrel. I’ve continued to shoot it and the groups have gotten sighlty larger to nearly 1” I took it to a match last month a ended up 8/18 with it, but the large groups continues to bug me. I had a top prs shooter get behind with the same result. I tried federal and Remington 6mm Creedmoor ammo with the same results. I have even changed scopes and put on two different scopes (a athlon and a Kahles) and got the same result. I have took the gun apart and everything seems in order. The barrel is free floating completely to the action. And the bdm is not hitting the trigger.
I tell all this to ask this question. It is a bartlein barrel 1/7.5 twist and I only have 343 down it. I know some barrels aren’t .5 moa barrels but for a 4K + custom rifle I would expect better groups.
Has anybody ever had a bartlein that didn’t group very well?
