Barrel troubles

At the first of February, I had a custom 6mm creedmoor built. I brought a 1000 rounds of Hornady 108 factory match. The rifle came in and I sighted it in, and break in the barrel shooting 50 rounds and clean and clean then another 50 and clean. However I noticed that It wasn’t grouping very tight, right about 3/4”. I thought maybe it was me that day because I can usually get sub .5 moa groups with my defiance 6.5 creedmoor or it just needed to be shot more to further break in the barrel. I’ve continued to shoot it and the groups have gotten sighlty larger to nearly 1” I took it to a match last month a ended up 8/18 with it, but the large groups continues to bug me. I had a top prs shooter get behind with the same result. I tried federal and Remington 6mm Creedmoor ammo with the same results. I have even changed scopes and put on two different scopes (a athlon and a Kahles) and got the same result. I have took the gun apart and everything seems in order. The barrel is free floating completely to the action. And the bdm is not hitting the trigger.

I tell all this to ask this question. It is a bartlein barrel 1/7.5 twist and I only have 343 down it. I know some barrels aren’t .5 moa barrels but for a 4K + custom rifle I would expect better groups.

Has anybody ever had a bartlein that didn’t group very well?

Do you know what the freebore was that your smith cut into the chamber?
What Federal and Remington ammo did you try, exactly?
Have you got any friends that reload that might be able to help you out with some load development?

I've had some other custom brands that didn't group well, one that was a hammer, and one factory barrel that would shoot with the customs. I think it's the luck of the draw sometimes, but you should try other loads. Some are just picky.

It’s a bartlein. And unfortunately I don’t know what reamer.

I'd give your gunsmith a ring and ask. The 108 factory ammo really needs a .183 SAAMI spec reamer. If it was drastically shorter, I'd expect you to be seeing serious pressure signs, but even a little too short may be the source of your accuracy issues.

What chassis? Have u checked your Freebore ( how much jump are they getting) I had similar results ended up I had to bed my action. Either way that sucks very frustrating

No I don’t know any chamber specifics. And unfortunately I don’t reload and I’m new to the game and don’t really know may people who do.

what brand barrel?

EDIT: I ask because I had a 6 creed blow out in 400 rounds and a few others blow out 6.5 barrels in under 1000 rounds with a particular...popular brand.
Bartlein

what did Tate say when u asked him, I highly doubt its the rifle/barrel. Ammo would be my first guess then I'd rip it apart--then put it back together tight as shit.
He didn’t think it was the barrel either but he said it should still shoot really good with Hornady match. He has it right now hopefully he can get it back to me before Thursday cause I’m entered at the night match

Cool, I'm sure he'll figure it out. Some guns are just picky but you never know could be something very small holding you back. Night match sounds like a blast

As just a comparison, I've been working with a 6mm Creedmoor that was done with a SAAMIspec reamer, ( .183 freebore ), in a Bartlein barrel and it shoots the Federal 105 Hybrid and Hornady 108 ELD-M really well. The barrel is 25.5".

What length barrel are you using? Does the crown look good? Are you using a Muzzle Brake, and could there be a little interference?

Every now and then, pretty darn rare, you get a bad barrel. Unfortunately, it just happens. I'm sure Tate, Vinny and the rest of the crew at Impact will get you squared away.
For whatever reason if you still need a rifle, shoot me a messagea and I'll spin up a 6 Creed for my Impact tomorrow. I can send it with someone for you to shoot. I'm only 2.5 hrs from Fouled Bore.
