Rifle Scopes Barrett Model 99 - scope eye relief

Trying to help friend set up new toy. Application is target shooting 400 - 1000 yards. Thinking Vortex Sightron and Nightforce Benchrest. Nightforce has 2.9" eye relief - this is materially less than the other two. Appreciate hearing from anyone with first hand experience. That is, will 2.9" be sufficient on Barrett .50 cal. I had a m99 in .416 with an nxs 5-22 with 3.9" relief. It seemed like technique was the most helpful thing when shooting it. 2.9" seems really tight. I would definitely be more comfortable with extra eye relief.

I have an M99 with a nxs 5-22 on it and I have never had a problem. I always make sure that new shooters are as far back from the scope as possible before they shoot. No one has had an issue yet. I would agree that 2.9" sounds a little tight. But without a slow motion camera I cant say if anyone has really needed the 3.9" or if everyone would have been fine with the 2.9".
