There he is. Obsessed with californians. Jerry curl the guy who wanted more suffering on good people in the way of fire. Don't worry we don't want anything to do with Texas. Who would want to live in a flat humid shit hole.

You know @ArmyJerry seems like a overbearing prick at at times, but that is an emotional response to him. In much the same way "gun control" is an emotional response to true mass shootings (gang on gang, domestic violence are not true mass shootings).doctordoctor - "blah blagh blah please send more fed money to bail out my shithole paradise"
AMERICA = "FUCK OFF"

Sometimes you have to stand back and be objective. And here he has a good point.
Why in the hell should people in Nebraska pay for California's misguided efforts? Is California "to big to fail".
Read this and tell me what you think. But first let me bring you up to speed.
Oroville damn is the Nation's tallest damn. It was built in the 1960's (1961-1968) with California money and is wholly owned by the state of California. During its 2005 re-licenseing it was determined that the spillway did not meet current regulations. Spillways at Federally owned damns had been being upgraded for years. But California was to busy to take care of a real issue. Saying that the spillway had never been used before, so it was not needed.
Here we are 2 years after the spillway was breached and the Fed's (you and me folks) are expected to pay upwards of $700,000,000 for the repairs.
https://www.sacbee.com/news/state/california/water-and-drought/article217824370.html
Fuck that, your damn your responsibility. Mismanaged as fuck. Damn was nearly 50 years old. Are you telling me $0.05 surcharge on every gallon of water that went through that damn in 50 years would not have paid for repairs and maintenance?
Also fishing and boating fees.
I am sure the money had been made, but the shit hole state legislatures appropriated the money to social programs. So now 250,000,000 non California citizens have to pay the bill. That is bullshit.
Fig what State are you from?I have to say, the outpouring of help going to California is sickening while the decimated Gulf Coast was forgotten within two days after it happened, and NONE of them have insurance to rebuild a dam thing. Figure the odds that the houses in Malibu couldn't get fire insurance... On top of that all the Federal assistance that isn't happening at all because of the CBRA.
This is no different than NFG for the guys in Benghazi while Kashogi is martyred. It's just more sick California/media bullshit. People who matter, and people who don't.
Really, cry me a river. I give to those who need it, not to who the media tell me to, because there is a 99% chance that one is bullshit. Did you donate to the Clinton Global Initiative too?
^ absolutely - Yes - the legislation if so screwed up and I do not think it is fixable.
Here is my rub, because shit isn't that simple.
I am NOT defending CA policies but sense you brought up "But first let me bring you up to speed." and "Sometimes you have to stand back and be objective".
California's losers by the millions came from All states, your's too.. ~ Although your state receives the least federal spend per person.
First Gold then in 1930s, the oil, agriculture, and entertainment industries attracted millions of people to southern California, which overtook northern California after the gold rush.
World War II further transformed California as emerging aerospace and shipping industries brought many more millions. Migration actually sped up after the war's end. In 1962, California passed New York as the nation's most populous state. By the turn of the 21st century, California laid claim to the world’s fifth largest economy and a population of nearly 34 million. Many Many of those people from other states or one generation new.
For years I'd go skiing and find that 90% of the people I'd meet on every chair ride where from another state, but now "TOTALY San Franciscan" and vote like fucking entitled shits. They move next to my home paying 2.5 million then tell me my smoker smells - Yep, we have been having the same issue you have for years. Most by the census from states like New York, Illinois, New Jersey and Michigan.
All that was great with the rest of the country even when other State cities gave buss tickets to the mentally unstable to warmer climates.
The tech boom still continues, but is also growing in Austin and now Austin is getting California like migration. In the mass exit from CA in 94, it might not have been too badly opposed, but 2000 people woke up.. In the last few years we get as many people from other states as leave. I know, drop all those states off the map; but were not going to be able to bring back the Alamo.
As far as "Federal Assistance" California paid federal tax -- or about $13 billion more than it received
As far as Federal money received per person, it also ranks not that far behind Texas.. So do we toss out all the states that take more federal disbursements per capita below Texas? Maybe only have 4 stars on the flag?
I get it - but it is more or an "our" problem if you look deep enough and are honest enough.
I am not arguing - but if we are going to use who pays for what, we need to be at least close to factual.

I'm from Missouri, and I own a beach house right where the hurricane hit. I got lucky. My house survived almost unscathed. There are three families living in my house right now (two of firemen, and one cop's family). We sent down quite a bit of help for Thanksgiving, because no one is helping them at all outside of private charity. It's a very poor part of the country to begin with, and so many people were wiped out. Amazon made some very large deliveries for my family...QED.Fig what State are you from?

Ok, now lets add in the State debt of California and see how it stacks up! Spending outstrips the highest taxes in America by sixty billion, with a "B".
I see this kind of bullshit talking point crap about socialist states all the time, and that's what it is, bullshit. You show a surplus because you ignore ever expanding and increasing debt, and ignore out of control spending. Who is going to bail CA out? Guess who. Same with IL.
In a state with one of the highest state income taxes the debt is absolutely exploding, because buying votes ain't cheap in a state that large. If you believe the above post, and that California's schemes are sustainable, I have a bridge to sell you.
California NEEDs it's own debt clock. The only place where the fiscal mismanagement is worse is in DC.
http://www.usdebtclock.org/state-debt-clocks/state-of-california-debt-clock.html
That's under Trump. The misery index was ten times what it is today under Obama, and the retards is CA would elect him again with bells on.
By the way I paid about 100 grand in taxes last year and I’m still poor and my state Is still on a collision course between its debt and crumbling infrastructure.
Not everyone here is on the dole or a bleeding heart liberal.
