I’m looking for a battery-less “Reflex” sight with either 0 or 1x magnification (preferably zero magnification) that I can mount at 45deg to the scope on my semi .308. My scope will probably be a Trijicon AccuPoint 2.5-10 power (no batteries) and I want something in case I need to switch to close in work. Something that I can shoot with both eyes open and fast. The only one that I have found that fits the bill is the Trijicon Reflex 1x24:
Linky-poo

I’ll probably never have to go to it and the Trijicon is not cheap (The Trijicon scope is $$$ already) and the Reflex is a bit big at 24mm.

I’m looking for inexpensive, small, preferably zero magnification and battery-less.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

</div></div> My first thought is that you don't know what 1x is. "1x" is what your eyes see all the time and is your thoughts of "zero" magnification. Close your eyes and you're seeing in zero magnification.

Aimpoints and EOTechs are 1x optics, and have no magnification effect.

The Trijicon RMR with the fiber optic is the closest you're going to find that functions without batteries but is compact in size. Anything else sans batteries is going to be a full size reflex sight. If you don't like the Trijicon then I suggest you get yourself a set of Dueck side mounted iron sights.

Re: Battery-Less Reflex Sight Needed

I think my pants moved just a bit.

NICE!

Does that red dot have a battery? Or a tritium/fiber optic type setup?

I LOVE your setup.

I’m trying to stay away from electronics if I can though.

Thanks!

Doh! I sound like a fool! I never thought about it like that. The only optics I have ever owned are my two EoTech’s and I always thought about them as “zero” magnification. I dig where your coming from now though. I’m such a tool sometimes.

Hmmmm, I looked at that one but its advertised as having a battery:
Linky

Does it operate off of a battery and have a tritium reticle? I’m not quite getting it.

I dig that little sucker though, very cool.

Oh, I like it......a LOT! I didn't realize it ran sans batteries.

Flip up iron sights are on the way. Gotta have those.

thanks!

Re: Battery-Less Reflex Sight Needed

The one shown is a dual illuminated Trijicon sight. They have fiber optic thread running under the white cover that wraps around the sides and top. There is also tridium or some other material that illuminates under dark conditions. Here is a link to the Trijicon website for various options.

The only drawbacks to these is that on bright days, you get some serious bloom in the dot (I put some brown packing tape over mine to correct for it). When using it in the dark and looking into lighted areas, you will get some or total washout.

Good luck.

Re: Battery-Less Reflex Sight Needed

Trijicon RMR's break down int three versions.

LED Manual adjustment (on/off up/down) 3.5 MOA available

LED Auto adjust 3.5 MOA available

Dual Tritium and Fiber Optic. Putting a Dual on an AK as I too wanted a no battery optic. Smallest dot available is 7 MOA or get the triangle and use the tip. When backlit by a bright light the dot will wash out in dim lighting. Not really an issue for your use but I'm mounting it on a rifle with a scout light.Putting a Dual on an AK as I too wanted a no battery optic. Tough as hell little optics but the dual has some flaws.

Re: Battery-Less Reflex Sight Needed

Hmmmmm, the RMR sounds like a sweet little unit but it sounds like it does have its drawbacks. In my case it would be a super worse case scenario if I were ever to need it. And at that point I could hit the quick release on the scope mount and go to irons. I’m going to need to do some soul searching on this little guy or something like it.

Thanks for your help guys!
