I've got a Bushnell Elite 6500 4.5x30x50MM. I'm disappointed with the clarity above 25x.I bought it on E-Bay for $600.00 bucks. Thinking of accepting the offer and buying a Zeiss Conquest 6.5x20x50 MM . This is for my Varmint rifle chambered in 6x284. This rifle is meant for 600 yds shooting of Varmints/predators. Anyone think its worth the hassle ? Should I do this ?

I gotta say you don't need 25x to shoot varmints at 600 yards and could still use the Bushnell. However, it's your choice and if you're really unhappy then sell it and get one that you like better.

I have the same scope on my 300wsm and I really like it. Compared it outside just after sunset against a mark4 8.5-25 and a swaro z5 5-25 and the 3 of us coulb not tell a difference in clarify at 25 power. Good luck.

Hey sportsmen after reading your post I've determined I have rocks in my head. $550 bucks isn't enough I think I'll keep it and use the 30 power on the bench. Thanks men.

BDH,
I made the transition from a 4200 to a 6500 and like the 6500 better. How are they different? Glass and coatings are supposed to be better (according to the tech guy at Bushnell I talked to).

I agree with you. The 30x 6500s that I have used have been less than clear at the higher end of the magnification range (anything after 24x or so was not great). If you can get $550 out of it and you want to move, I think you'll be pleased with the clarity of the Zeiss Conquest lineup when compared to the Elite 6500.

That said...if you keep the scope at 20x or less (which is more than enough for varmints out to 600 IMO), you should be okay.
