Have not had a new, custom barrel in many years. Had a Ruger RPR that fouled incredibly easy and the Bergara barrel had significant copper fouling, but cleaned up easier than the Ruger.
Took the rebarreled Bergara to the range Friday with a JP compensator newly installed. This was the 2nd range trip with the new barrel. After 90 rounds fired, cleaning up the Hawk Hill....got a few patches of carbon out using a Boretech Carbon remover. I like using a bronze .223 brush with a patch wrapped around it, soaked in carbon remover. 4 passes with the brush/patch combo and dry patch to clean out. After the carbon, I put a copper solvent (Boretech Eliminator) thru the barrel and let it sit....dry patched out....nothing, no blue/green....not a lick.
In keeping with Lowlight's minimalist cleaning policy, I was going to put it away....but I wanted to confirm that there was no copper fouling which really surprised me. I put a more aggressive copper solvent thru it (Montana Extreme, the really smelly one) and let it sit. Dry patches to clean it out....nothing. Wow.....this barrel is awesome. Going to save me tons of cleaning time.
Final step, some Montana Extreme bore conditioner, 2 dry patches and into the safe.
