Alright. This is a big deal for me.

I've been redeemed for losing my video at the last shoot. So here it is. A 2000 yard shot, on video. I apologize for the silly sounds, I have been trying this for months.

Bullet flight time estimate: 4.22 seconds

I adjusted the shot 106 MOA above the target and 15 MOA to the left. In other words I was aiming 185 feet high and 26 feet to the left.

I'm not smart enough for mils yet. Lol.

Or maybe I'm just scared to buy a mil scope and have to replace years of MOA scopes in the safe. Either way its been on my mind!

I’m trying to get my BIL to buy my old scope so I don’t have to translate from the MRAD (that I see when spotting) to the MOA that he needs to dial on 12-MOA-per-turn turrets

Thats kind of what I was thinking. They still make both. Both ways get it there.

If you shoot with folks that use mil it might be a good idea to switch, if you shoot with folks that use moa use that. If you shoot solo use what ever gets the job done

Honestly it was out of the box 147 Hornady ELDM

Good stuff! I got my first mile shot with my B14HMR 6.5CM just the other day using 140GR ELDM from the factory and kestrel 5700 for my dope. The hornday match ammo is great stuff.

Do you find that the 147s perform better than the 140s past 1000? I have yet to put any 147s through my rifle

The 147’s have a bit better wind at 1500+
Unless your pushing those distances regularly I’d stick with 130-140’s.

Steel is absolutely correct. My Bergara loves 140s up to 1315. Anything beyond that is all 147s for me.

Just curious on the 140 ELDM, whats your avg FPS? I just zeroed my new NX-8 this week and shot 16 rds or 140 ELDM with a avg FPS of 2626 and a SD of 27. Im planning to attempt a mile this Sunday and not sure what to load in strelock.

For the 140 ELD at that speed I’d try .315 G7 with your actual speed.

I'm going to let you guys in on a little secret. There is tons of people that only use the American Gunner line because it is much cheaper and they get the exact same results from it. PRS guys know this but they won't say it very often. With a gun I had never even seen before and some random numbers I pulled off the internet we were shooting groups at 1340 yards in about 5 minutes. Almost impossible to spot impacts at a mile on rocks though.

I’ve shot the 140BTHP out to 1500 yards.
It did decent.
The 140 and 142 SMK does decent as well.
I was with another member here when he got hits at 1810 yards with the 140 in factory sig 6.5 CM ammo, I think that’s the 140smk.

Do you/did you find the BTHP had a distance where you opened up accuracy you can recall? I just love this have a pile it's .5" on paper at 100 and at 800 I am softball sized groups shooting at IPSC heads. By 1000 that vertical spread opens way up on *me* and I wholly accept it's entirely me causing that....just curious what you guys have seen at say 1k out. It's the vertical spread I'm getting by 1k that I am struggling to resolve. The group spread....sounds like it's tight well beyond that for you fellers so I'm going to reckon it's the nut behind the butt causing that vertical spread further out. I don't *think* my hsoulder pressure is changing, but it very well could be.

@8pointer We had 3 guys on the rifle and put maybe 15 on a rock at 1342 yards. There were at least 10 in a 6" group. Not vertical dispersion, only wind errors. I was amazed with how good that factory ammo shot. It was a RPR with a Criterion barrel.

Well that's what I wanted to hear.....I can fix me problems and that is something I have to stay on like a hawk anyway. I've got a 22" B14 HMR and looks like I just need to knuckle down better b/c the rifle is a freak shooter.....guy behind it errrr.....well he's a work in progress I have my moments on both ends of the spectrum. Honestly I have become very sloppy lately with mechanics when I look back.....easy for me to do shooting a lot of steel. Glad to see youguys had a crazy day with the BTHP at that distance! The load is crazy good 43.9 StaBall, BTHP, Horndaddy brass, SD 7 and ES 23. I think 1000 is just where my deficiencies are starting to go from 'meh' at 800 to 'wtf' at 1000.

In fact that’s why I switched to 140 hybrids because I started shooting a lot past 1200 yards.
The BTHP is an excellent bullet but it is a VALUE Bullet not a premium.

@8pointer My advice to you, is don't think of one distance as being any more difficult to shoot than another. You will get it in your head that there is some magic line where things become harder, which is not true. If you are capable of hitting at 800 you are capable of hitting at 1800. Your hit percentages go down the further you shoot but that is about it. I've never found user error to be much of a factor. Just start shooting at extreme distances and you'll dial it in ALOT faster than you would think. Only thing holding you back is thinking that you have limits. I wish someone would have told me exactly this 10 years ago.

I shotJLK’s for a bit before they closed shop.
Recently found out they re opened.
Will certainly try them again once i shoot out my current stock of bullets.
