Re: Best 9 bucks spent on an AK?

I think I will continue to forgo the "tactical correctness" that these fellas tout and just use the mag I am reloading with to activate the lever and knock the empty out of the well.

To each his own.

Even if you buy "tactical correctness" the question still remains - do you come under or over to run the CH at that point?

Good luck

This is what I have done with the AK for years and have been trained to do. A while back, a company made a "clamp on" extension for the lever mag release for AK's. It looked similar to an extended hammer spur found on lever action rifle hammers, knurled on both sides, adding about a 1/4" of height and a 1.5" or so wider "paddle" to the lever release. I installed one briefly and found that it only got in the way/snagged on things, and beat the hell out of my mags more than they were already getting beat up because of the knurling on the extension.

This new setup seems to be an interesting product, but I am not sure how "tactically correct" it is or isn't or whether it is any more functional than slapping the paddle release with the full mag you are loading while knocking the empty or partially empty mag out of the way.
