Atlas...Atlas...and...um...what was that last one...oh yeah...ATLAS!!
Joking aside, there is nothing per se wrong with your basic Harris BRM-S (or S-BRM as listed some places: benchrest...6-9" height adj., notched leg, swivel model). Slap a pod-loc on it and call it a day if you want to stay as close to your $100 budget (about $110 total actually) and still have a decent quality bipod.

I personally saw no benefit (after messing with an Atlas) going with the Atlas over the Harris (which is a proven performer) IMHO...
I run a Harris S-BRM...6-9" notched...and have never been left wanting....I consider it a "Good Quality" Bipod (Harris that is)...

The Atlas has multiple advantages (and arguably one disadvantage...deployment speed...depending on how you run your bipod) over the Harris. I'm not going to rehash countless pages of reviews, commentary, explanation of the Atlas, but if you run a quick search you'll find out enough to make an informed call on whether it is worthwhile to you to invest the addt'l funds at this time or if the Harris will suffice for your purposes.
In general though...the Atlas has multiple features absent on the Harris, including: 1) the immediate and easy ability to mount directly (whether by clamp or QD) to a picatinny rail...which is another cost you'll need to add to your $110 price I mentioned above as you'll need an adapter to fit any Harris to a rail interface since the GAP-10 doesn't have a swivel stud for attachment of the bipod without an adapter; 2) independent leg adjustments and multiple locking positions for each leg; 3) panning left and right, as well as canting, when the bipod is properly loaded; 4) lighter weight than the Harris (slightly), but arguably stronger and more robust IMHO/experience.
Again...do your homework and make a decision based on your own set of individual needs/preferences/total budget/etc.

snipepod makes a lightweight bipod but i'm not sure how much they cost

Harris. I've never used at Atlas but I've never felt the need to upgrade from a Harris.

Both are great bipods (harris and atlas). I just feel like the atlas is built "better" and has a few extra features that the harris doesn't have. I would suggest getting behind put and see if you desire the features on the atlas.
I personally see nothing wrong with the harris... but I have the atlas on my bolt.

I gotta agree with ORD here.... my percision semi (OBR) gets the atlas and my LMT MWS gets to sport a Harris.... the Harris is hands down faster but the atlas loads so much better... The independent legs of the atlas allow the most flexibility out of any bipod... The other major benefit of the Atlas is the panning/canting feature. You can keep a proper load on your bipod while engaging multiple movers/targets.
all in all.... the Harris is the standard. The Atlas is the gold standard IMO.

1) I must have gotten lucky as my GAP-10 has a sling stud which I mounted my Harris to without a problem. If it doesn't then you can get one from POF.
2) Never found a need for this.
3) Never found a need for panning. Have shot many movers from 25 to 800 yards without a problem. Cant on the Harris works fine.
4) Never broke a Harris in years of heavy match use so it's plenty strong.
$100 budget get a Harris and you will be doing fine.

While im not dogging the atlas because i know many people here actually do like them.. i feel the harris is a better option based on speed alone. Whens the last time you've ever seen a properly maintained Harris fail? Excluding the Chinese clone knock offs obviously. The pan feature is useless to me as i have no problem shooting movers with a Harris.
In 80 shooters at this years TBRC, check the stats for yourself on what most competition shooters prefer.

You know who, attach a pic of your toy to every post along with a link so everyone can admire your wallet and all the upscale bits you bought. As if that buys you credibility, expertise, experience, and the skill to criticize what anyone else chooses to buy.
I like this forum, and am thankful when the idiots stay away when guys that have some real knowledge share it. I have never liked the screen door spring look of the Harris, but too many shooters I respect use them so I will probably give one a try.

I would say that Rob01 is qualified to be one of the guys here who has some real knowledge, tread lightly

As I said before...there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with the Harris per se. I have many years of good service from Harris before switching to the Atlas on most of my rifles. The Harris BRM-S is basically ALL I used for many years prior to the Atlas becoming available. While my luck with them has not been as good as others (I have had 3 broken Harris bipods over roughly a 8yr period...two springs and one broken leg), Harris took care of them each time (as good as CS can be these days...no complaints there other than the inconvenience of a broken bipod)!
It comes down, as I said before, to an issue of what best suits the OP's particular needs/wants and budget. ~$250 bipods aren't for everyone especially when, for many folks, a fully equipped Harris at roughly half the price works just fine. To each their own.
To 900inch...I hope to hell you aren't talking about Rob01 in your comment as he has more experience in the real world with this issue than many, MANY others and is more than overqualified to offer the opinions he offered in this thread and countless others on this subject! I've used the Harris 6"-9" Harris swivel bipod on many riles over the years and been very happy with them. I just put an Atlas on my new AIAW and it has many advantages over the Harris as noted in previous posts. If extreme versatility is what you require Atlas is the way to go IMO

I wish I could say I was running and gunning when it happen or otherwise beating the hell out of them at the time, but with the springs...in one instance I opened up my case and found a spring had broken in two at the lower leg attachment point and the second snapped in almost the same place when I deployed the bipod legs. The broken leg I'm convinced was some sort of a casting/machining/material flaw in the metal and nothing that was in any way Harris's fault as it broke under recoil on a 300WM bolt gun right at one of the weaker points I guess...it was the first leg notch above the foot of the bipod. The springs are springs and by their nature will fail at some point in time I guess, but the broken leg still has me stumped to this day. I wish I'd have taken a pic or two of it before sending it back to Harris (who replaced it in total as it came back looking far too nice to have been the original one I sent in). Like I said...can't complain a bit at the quality of their service after the sale and the inconvenience was pretty minor to put it mildly as I had umpteen of them at the time and just swapped one of the unbroken ones off another rifle and went on with my day.

I run an Atlas on my OBR but I was pretty impressed with the GG&G on my Brother's 17's.

I went with an Atlas for a couple of reasons, I liked the pan & tilt as well as the extra positions for the legs, but what really made the decision was the size of atlas with the QD mount. Once you put a larue or adm QD on the harris you're almost the same cost as the atlas with ADM, but atlas has a much lower profile. The QD was important for me because I use it on 4 different rifles, a few AR's, LRP-07, and my MPR so one bipod that can move from rifle to rifle with the flick of a lever is great.

Atlas may be nice, but they're pretty short for a lot of real world field conditions. Try getting above some grass or other ground clutter on a coyote stand with a 9" bipod.
I use a 6-9" Harris for bench shooting and dicking around at the range.
But when it comes time to do some real shooting, the 9-13" gets slapped on.
