Best bipod under $100?

If there's something better than Harris in that price range I have no idea what it is. In fact, until you spend Atlas money I don't think there's much else worth looking at, but I'm sure a fellow Hider will pull something else out of their hat.

I was intrigued by a BlackHawk Harris clone I saw at Walmart for ~$50. It was a 6-9" with swivel and pod lock features. I figured it might be good for my Savage MKii, but they don't have them anymore, just the 9-13".
Since I never got my hands on one, I can't comment on the actual quality. That said, I wouldn't count on it to be anywhere close to an actual Harris, but for a .22lr, I was almost willing to give it a try.

I'd look for a used Harris if money is an issue.

halo, I have one of the blackhawk clones and am unimpressed. Unless you have no real need for it to work well on your .22, I wouldn't cheap out if I were you. I had to spend time and effort to rebuild mine straight out of the package as the nut that controls swivel tightness was cross threaded from the factory and did not work at all.

I bought mine on a whim while at WalkMart and would not do it again.

Damn! Sorry for your misfortune. I'd take it back to Walmart. I figured it wouldn't be as good as a Harris, but thought it might be "good 'nuff for a .22" Guess not. Thanks for the insight.

Before I switched over my Harrises to QD, I bought one of the cheap knock-offs (pretty sure it was the Blackhawk) just to throw on another rifle so I didn't have to dick around with moving the "real" bipods around. It was a cheap attempt at having a bipod on each rifle instead of moving them.

The difference in construction compared to a Harris is noticeable and I don't take the knock-off seriously as a bipod. You can find good deals on the real Harris bipods throughout the year and there's really no reason to not buy the real thing unless you're in a pinch and can't get a real Harris locally and just need "something" to use for the short term.

I jumped on the Atlas PSR group buy and it arrived last month. Once I'm back in the States I'm looking forward to seeing what I've been missing (if anything) with the Atlas compared to Harris.

Long story short, if the Atlas isn't right for you for whatever reason, then your other choice is the Harris. I have yet to hear of an acceptable substitute. In keeping with the topic of the thread, it's Harris. Period.

I've got a tms bipod and a Harris. The tms I picked up off of amazon used for around 40 bucks. A side by side comparison the tms looks to have a slightly better spring attachment stud. But the Harris has a better bolt/screw for the sling stud attachment. Tms was about 25 dollars less than the Harris. Both have a good lock up on the notched legs. I think it's a toss up. Both feel very sturdy and are way better than any of the budget ones I've seen. I could post up some pictures of the differences if anyone is interested.

Harris with pod-loc. I use one for six different rifles. With a Harris there is no reason to have individual pods for each rifle as it takes all of about one minute to make a switch. I suppose I should buy a backup but 'til now there's been no need.

If you can't afford a Harris bi pod......I fear you may be in the wrong hobby.

I've picked up 3 or 4 Harris bi pods CHEAP, over the years from the various gun forum FOR SALE areas.
Or...post a Want To Buy on a few sites?

Going cheap on a knock off is a bad decision.

I had the opposite experience. My Blackhawk bipod works great on my .22. Would I put it on a $2500 build? No! After all, if you can't afford a $100 bipod, what are you doing shooting/building/owning a $1000+ gun?
