What's some of the better factory ammo experiences you've had? If you'd post a target, or quantify how it's done in matches for you...that be specifically what I'm after.

Looking to rebarrel two rigs that are two different wildcat calibers (no factory ammo options) right now.....and rebarrel them into one same same 6mm caliber that has good factory ammo options (243, 6 Creed, 6XC or ?)......1st one is my "varsity" rifle, that will shoot exclusively reloads, and I'll load fancy princess brass for (Alpha, Petersen, Lapua etc) and when I've got a day or night off prior to the match knock out my worship session at the ammo altar and make holy water level ammo for, and be disciplined about brass retrieval for. The other rig...a "backup" rifle, I'll exclusively run factory through, and not care so much if I miss a couple dozen pieces of brass during the match.

I've missed matches simply due to not programming/missmanaging time to make ammo....don't want to do that anymore....I'd rather shoot factory stuff, then miss the match.

What 6mm caliber has the best performance/options out there right now for PRS?

6 Creed? 6XC from Tubb? Copper Creek? Hornady? Prime? Or?

My initial search makes it look like 6 Creed is the front runner, but not sure I know of all the options, and would like to hear your experiences with different brand(s) and/or caliber(s). Performance is important, but so is the supply chain...if it's unobtanium...or if you just need to buy a pile of it when it's available...how consistent is it from lot to lot....etc

Thanks in advance for sharing, and helping me research the right answer.

6 Creed if you want factory offerings that are reasonably priced (prime or hornady)

During a 2 day match you're likely gonna lose a dozen pieces depending on the terrain. Odd positions on ridge tops mean brass ends up flying places you can't retrieve it or it gets lost in the brush and dirt and leaves

You should probably look to be buying a pile of stuff regardless. Bullets brass powder primers....they don't go bad and probably won't get cheaper going forward

Thanks Graham. Stockpiles are in place. Just need to decide on chambering.

It looked like 6 Creed was the answer. I saw that Tubb sells 6XC stuff. I've just always rolled my own. New at shooting the factory stuff.

How good can it shoot? I'm thinking it's gotta be a lot of luck of the draw, if your rifle likes x ammo...and not sure my search was uncovering all the good options out there.

6 creed in 108 eld has been good as well. Would be nice if Hornady could get a .6 bc bullet in their 6 CM offering. I would also mention that an FX scale and Auto-Trickler- Auto-Throw when configured correctly is amazing for getting precision loaded stuff out fast. With sized and primed brass you can throw charges and seat about 5 cartridges a minute. Maybe more.

How much would that set up cost? Curious because cause I haven't ventured into reloading yrt

Thanks Aaron for the pic.

Bulldog, I agree, it seems i can't remember reloading before all of Adam M's goodies.... definitely spoiled now. Just looking to have the factory ammo/backup rifle option in the same caliber. Definitely a 1st world problem.

Sounds like 6 Creed it is.

Thanks Reuben. That's a simple, but great idea. Have you done this before by chance? Do you know how compressed (if any) the factory 6 Creed loads are after?

.183 is the SAAMI spec FB correct?

My measurements from my stash of DTACs say that .140-.150 freebore is the right answer for those to "touch" with them seated at neck/shoulder/bearing surface junction. I don't have any 108s to measure up.

What's the most Freebore consuming factory option out there...I'm assuming it's the Hornady 108 ELDs. If someone can measure up CBTO and COAL from thier factory ammo and post thier findings, thanks. I understand those dimensions will vary by tooling used to meassure, personal technique, and component lot...but it'll get ball park for my purposes.

About 1k USD and absolutely worth every penny. Quality of life from stuff like that and an AMP annealer are fantastic. Wish I had done it sooner. I used to dread reloading now it is a minor annoyance if I have to change powders. Otherwise I can knock out 250 to 300rds loaded in a sitting and not be frazzled at the end of it. Plenty to support a couple one day matches and some training sessions.
