Where is the best price on one of these bay boys? I have been trying to buy a Singer 15-91 on eGay for the last month to try and make some stuff, but I keep getting sniped in the last minute to the tune of $400+ for a 50 year old machine. I'm starting to think I should just buy a Consew and be done with it.

Stu, I just picked up a Juki 1541, and a Pfaff 3371 bar tacker, but not a Consew, I do have a 206RB5. The same company that I purchased these from have the 206RB5s ridiculously cheap, with table stand, and servo motor.

$1040, free shipping

Check out craigslist -- there are occasional local good deals (my Singer 31-15 was $300 with motor and table, and my Consew 206RB3 was $650, again with motor and table).

I highly suggest you decide what you need in a machine. Then shop Craigslist and your local repair shop.

If you pin yourself to one model you can be looking for a long time. If you keep an open mind you can pickup some smoking deals.

My last two industrial machines have been off of the local Craigslist. I got them for a fraction of what I could have from a used dealer.

Just checked Craigslist in Houston (1 hour away), and I think someone has what i'm looking for. I'll have to call later when most people are up.

Good luck with that superde. The outfit I buy my machines from is on Craigslist like a hawk and if it looks like a good deal will snatch it up in a heartbeat to resell.

They're not the cheapest by any means but I've bought my last three Juki's from them and had them set up with servo motors and different pulleys and have had great service from them. I'll be placing an order for another one today and might need another one in the near future too. Southwest sewing machine on Pagewood. They have a website and might have what you're looking for in house used.

Re: Best place to buy Consew 206RB5?

i second the craigslist and the advice of not pinning yourself down on one particular machine if looking for a good deal

that being said.... i recently got a table top all in one consew machine off of ebay for 335$ including shipping. i believe its a consew 206R
has the motor, etc all built on the machine, so no need for table, etc.
its a good machine, does what i need it to do and dont have to pay the extra pricing for tables, motors, etc.
im sure the guy is still selling them on there.

That is a good machine that you will not go wrong in buying . I really like the Consews for machines . I got the Heavy duty brother to that model that is a combo, strait-zigzag/reverse/walker . I really like the Shuttle and bobbin design on that model Consews too . They are good workhorses .

Had yesterday afternoon off, so I drove down to Houston. I came back with this:

I'm excited about it! Now to make some templates, and do some familiarization with it, so I don't stitch my hand to the table - it fly's! Servo motor might well be in order so I can slow it down a little.

Don't mind the junk on the floor - old PC that I don't use anymore, and had to take out the computer desk so I have a place for it.

LOL. It's going to be a while before I am anywhere near your skillset. But, i've got a few things I want to try to make, and see how they turn out.
