What is your scope of choice and why for $2500?

This scope will be used out to 1500 yards.

Premier 3-15 GenII XR,as long as your eyes are good,if not stay with the basic GenII. Call Scott at liberty optics he will get you squared away. You just cant beat it for the price,not sure if anything really beats it.

Choose the feature you would like and match them to the scope and purchase that one.
At that price, they all are very good.
With that said, I are extremely pleased with Premier.

The S&B would be my choice between those two But look at the F1 also before deciding. The 4-16 will be enough scope for what you want to do.

US Optics SN-3 2.8 - 22x is one of my favorites. Shoot, Erek, Lit, and a 58mm Obj could aslo be had for that as well. CUstomizable to your needs or requirements, many reticles to choose from, tube can be made larger, lots of upgradable parts, and superb customer service

3.2x17x44 Sn3 with TPal, Erek, lit Red ret, lense caps and ARD.


Lense cover and ARD are a frickin must for the price.
$40 lense cover/$2500 glass. plus the ARD is GREART if you hunt yotes or people.

I know you can get new premier's for under 2500 since I have a couple ,but I wasnt aware you can get S&B's for that. Who sell's comparable S&B's for under 2500?

I wish I had this problem. If you can find someone close to you with some of the scopes that you are looking for it may serve you better to see and feel especially with the amount of money that you are spending.

Like everything man-made, even the best scope does not possess any supernatural powers. Unfotunately, at a certain price point, people expect pretty much nothing short of infallibility from certain products, which nobody can deliver. What you can expect is being taken care of if stuff does happen, which I hope and assume was the case here.
For the individual, a fault (whatever this might have been in this case) is always a huge let-down and people tend to show vigorous reactions, which is something that every manufacturer who enters the market at a high level will encounter at some point, as has been seen in other recent threads. For such a serious topic, there is a lot of emotions going on when it comes to equipment choice.

On a matter-of-fact level, I am pretty confident that a scope design that the US Marine Corps found fit for their use should be good enough for most other shooters from a reliability point of view. The Marines sure weren't easy on our test scopes, and they didn't just "test" them with a couple hundred rounds at the range either, but rather to the end of a life cycle (as far as this can be simulated in months, not years). Remember when those 10K pieces of brass were for sale a couple months ago? That was just part of the whole fun.

Durability and reliability are something where one usally pretty much has to rely on third party sources because few people can afford to destroy a sufficiently large sample size of each candidate. Features and technical data can be compared directly. Look closely at what features you want and what the manufacturer delivers. Especially FOV numbers may differ substantially between seemingly similar models from different manufacturers. Then there is optical quality which is best appreciated in a direct comparison of personal favorites. Always try getting behind the scopes in question before making a decision.

If you are using the ammo I think you might be using, you will need ~15.5 mils of elevation at 1500 yards. The USMC spec Heritage with 22 mil single turn knobs is the only scope I'm aware of that will get you there in just one revolution with room to spare. I've seen as much as 18 mils being used to reach out with a .50 and hit vehicles.
Of course this can also be done with other turret setups, but there is a reason why the USMC wanted to get rid of multiple revolutions altogether for their type of use.

Feelings still hurt over not getting a complete import manifest from Premier, eh? But it's nice to know, er, imply, that USO has a bauxite mine behind the factory, makes their own LEDs (or whatever lights up a reticle) and the illumination componentry...all from scratch. I wonder if the elves doing all this have their green cards.

(No offense meant to USO...'cause they are great people who make great scopes, but nobody does it all in-house).

Actually S&Bs won't be going to Germany either as they have a new shop in NH that will be doing any work on the scopes.

S&B, USO, Nightforce, Premier. All great but you need to establish pro vs con for each such as reticle design, click spacing, method of lighting reticle (how you turn it on and how much of it is actually lit)... At 1500 yds I would be looking for a 5-25 power.

I personally use S&B, Nightforce, Premier, and USO. They all have pluses and minus. Whatever one you get you will love.

I have been really happy with the Premier GENII XR this has to be one of my favorite reticles. I have a USO in the works with that will have the GENII XR. The NEW turret is very nice also.

Nightforce has been one of the most reliable scopes we sell and for the price they are hard to beat.

USO has a great reticle patters to choose from, there EREK knob is very nice and they feel really robust.

S&B offers really good glass they are very well made.

Again whatever one you get I’m sure you will love.

Might just be me but the 4-16 is kind of like S&B's PMII step child. It is just not up to par with their 3-12 and 5-25. I would hands down recommend the 3-12 to somebody before the 4-16. So this is why I said who sell's comparable(overall package) S&B's for under 2500. This is just my opinion and I am certainly nobody imnportant.

Have I missed something? Whose NEW turret?

What really caught my eye was the <span style="font-style: italic">USO with a GenIIXR</span> part! I wish I could swing a 3.8-22 with a GenIIXR, that sounds like the best of everything I've been lucky enough to use!

My vote for the OP's question goes to USO.

NF 3.5-15x50 SFP mil/mil zs for about $1700 which leaves you $800 to make your girlfriend/wife happy. This will give you 99.9% of the $2500 scope and the satisfaction of coming well within budget. Credit cards are old school....debit cards rule!

Higher magnification is used when you have a very stable platform(prone with rest/bipod or on bench), shooting at stationary targets, shooting at targets 1/2MOA or less. Benchrest, F-Class, Varmints
