My new GAP-10 (.308) ideally should be showing up around Christmas (ordered at SHOTSHOW last Jan) and I need to make a decision on glass for it. I'm a self-admitted Schmitty fanboy. My precision bolt rifles wears a 5-25x PMII and my precision Larue AR-15 has a S&B 4-16 PMII. So the natural choice is to get the 5-25 PMII for the GAP.
However, I've been out of the scope market for a couple of years and haven't been paying attention to what's the latest and greatest out there, as I've been working overseas during that time. Is the S&B still the best glass out there for long range stuff or is there something better on the market now?
The other thing I'm concerned about is will the additional recoil impulse of the semi-auto bolt movement be harder on a scope? Anyone ever run into issue with S&Bs on a larger caliber gas gun?
BTW - the primary use will be Precision tactical rifle matches and long range steel out to 1K.
Thanks in advance for the help and advice......
