I have a friend that I encouraged to buy a NF Scope and he loves it. However, he now needs 2 or 3 more scopes and can't swing the NF for all three and doesn't like the swop out idea. I just don't know this price range well.

What is the best tactical scope for 308 / 300 WM for shooting out to 1k +. He wants to dial turrets if possible.

SWFA SS 10x, 16x, 20x. Any of those can be used at 1k. Obviously, 20x better picture of target, but up close hes gonna have trouble getting on target quickly.

10x, gonna be better for shorter ranges, but 1k a 20"x30" steel is gonna be just a little small.

I use a 3-12 Bushnell for 1k and shot 2 matches with it and always been happy and I think they can still be found in the 500-700 range depending on where you buy.

If he is okay with shopping used he should be able to find SWFA 3-9 or 10X HD for 400-600, Sightron SIII models for 500-700, maybe used leupolds with m1 knobs around 500-700.

I second the SWFA scopes, they are terrific for the money. I would stick with the 10x or 12x though, the 16x and 20x are too much for all around use and the mirage will be horrible on hot days and you have no way to turn the magnification back. They come mil/mil with the Milquad reticle now so it's an even better option.

Im in the same boat. Fixin to purchase two SPS Tactical .223's for the girlfriend and her son I think and cant afford top dollar glass on both. I have the Midway Weaver on my 10/22 and it rocks. I have the SWFA SS 5-20 on my .308. Not sure which one would be best for the .223's......Midway Weaver or the SS fixed 10x or 12x?? There both the same price (once Midway goes on sale). Whats the difference in the regular SS 10x and the HD 10x?

The SS scopes would certainly be a great option. Can't beat them for the money.

The only other option that comes to mind, from a tactical standpoint would be Falcon Menace, but they are bulky looking.

I 've got a Burris MTAC 4.5-14x42 that I use on one of my ARs that is in your friend's price range. It's been a really good scope at that price point. Decent reticle, decent glass, returns to zero and is not real big.
