Bipod help

So as I start to upgrade what I have no to better equipment the bipod is my next project, how does everyone feel about the magpul ?

I currently run a atlas clone and while I know that might be frowned on in this group it’s just all I could do at the time.

my max budget is 230, thought also about a ggg bipod but looking for opinions

also one other thing the bog death grip is it worth the 150 ?

I have seen shooters in our local club matches use the Magpul and it works but it won't be an upgrade over your Atlas ripoff. My impressions were the Magpul flexes too much for my preference.

I'd second the previous poster, within your budget, the Atlas CAL is a great bipod

I have 2 Magpuls and in fact they are modded to go to 45*.

I like them and used them a lot and they are serviceable.

When I bought my CAL2 my idea of what a bipod offers completely changed.

Save and get a CAL2.

using your own words that you want to "upgrade", don't expect better results without spending more $$$. The Atlas Bipods are a great value and are actually your cheapest options. It sounds like a major investment until you've used one and realized it is money well INVESTED, not spent.

The CAL is one of, if not the most versatile bipod on the market; especially for the price.

I'm actually suprised how much I like the Magpul after first seeing-or handling- them. However-they aren't rock solid like an Atlas. To me stick with Magpul or go Atlas (or other comparable ones) and nothing in between-just my 2cents.

I like the magpul on my AR.
the sloop is nice when making fast switches on target with a fairly large angle change.

CAL i have a magpul it’s not comparable after you spend a lot of time on both.

That's a good way to put it actually-they are a great AR15 bipod. Once you want more stability or start adding weight like an AR10-the faults show.

the screw on clamp is that ok ? I might want to try prs and personally see no reason for qd lever on my bipod but if qd is better I’ll save but yes the cal is what I decided on

The nice thing about the quick release Version is if you ever change to an Arca rail setup you can easily.

Buy a real CAL from EO, MHSA, or B&T and don’t ever buy another knock off. By purchasing counterfeits you’re supporting an entire industry that is based on theft. If you can’t afford the real deal, then go without.

You have the budget for a CAL. You won’t be disappointed. That money will get you a bipod that will outlast you and whoever inherits your belongings.

i own a psr i like it but not for long range shooting cause i cant lock the cant down without a tool but i do recommend the qd mount so you can move the bipod on a rail when needed it will be alot easier then having to move things around and unscrew it to make a adjustment

Magpul bipod is junk. In your budget area, the cal is the only (and best) choice.

I have had several bipods from the Elite Iron to the Harris Knock off. By far the best is the Elite Iron for stability. But unfortunately not for cost ($550+)(I have 1).
The Atlas line is the best bang for the buck. For sub $300 the Cal with mount is an excellent choice (I have 2). the PSR is another great choice, also in that range (I have 2).
The Thunderbeast Bipod is another good choice, but is closer to $400. I have not owned one, but shot it and it performed well.
Please do not buy the knock off brands from online or Amazon. They are not the same quality, and seriously detract from the real manufacturers.

I have a tac a1 in 6.5 creedmoor and went with the screw on cal bipod for the exact reasons you’re facing...money. As I shot the rifle and decided I wanted to shoot prs I bought an area 419 universal arca rail and their arca/atlas clamp. Start with the screw on cal if that’s all you can do for now, a solid bipod is most important. Plan on adding other pieces as you go. You may not even know what you want for accessories until you get behind the gun with a good bipod like the cal for a bit.

Save up a little if needed and get the atlas. Worth it.

A Harris can be good enough to get it done, but it's not in the same league as the good stuff. That said, I have a couple and I have no trouble banging steel with them, and you wont either.

There are many people who buy a Harris and dump a bunch of money into it. (Pod locks, pic adaptors, feet) Just to realize they have just as much money invested as an Atlas for a, frankly, sub par product.
Do it right the first time, you won't regret it.

You bought three (3) fake Atlas bipods, because it was all you could do at the time? wow. Please buy a magpul.

I myself am new to precision shooting but after doing some research i landed (today actually) on an Atlas BT10 V8, it was 250$ at my local gun shop, i think you can get them for 230$ maybe less but i dont mind paying a few extra bucks to support a local shop. Anyways i was back n forth with harris and magpul but after researching and the good reviews on Atlas and how you can upgrade the feet etc, i also was told if you buy a "base" version, you can upgrade to the NC version through atlas and they take your old one in as trade. Dont quote me 100% as when i called them i was processing a ton of information but figure add 10-15$ for a mount as i have an oryx chassis so i bought a magpul aluminum M LOK to picatinny adapter. Love it so far but i wont be shooting with it till this weekend. But i figured buy a decent bipod so im not buying cheap ones from amazon and replacing them. My 2 cents

well I actually don’t “NEED” to replace any of these, I take my tikka to 700 yards every weekend and I shoot awesome 100 yard groups, a few o-rings to keep the tension knob from backing off and it’s solid, so I don’t need to, I just want to

I have the magpul, it has worked better than the other wally world harris clones I have owned before but it is not a precise piece of equipment...I have managed to do well in competition in spite of it, however I plan on upgrading to the cal when funds become available...the magpul will get put on an AR. I am glad I purchased the Magpul though because it got me shooting competitions quicker, now that I know I want to continue I will invest in better equipment (as soon as the second mortgage goes through).
