Birthday yields Lapua Brass and a question..

Re: Birthday yields Lapua Brass and a question..

Drop a few samples of each on a scale and get an average weight.
If the Lapua is lighter, use your regular charge or work up from there. If it is heavier, drop back and work up.

Re: Birthday yields Lapua Brass and a question..

Thanks Rafael,
Yes, Of this I am aware. Just thought I might shorten my ladder a bit.
My Win brass averages 157.3 grains, The Laupa around 173.5 grain.
I was under the impression it was a given that Lapua had less
case capacity. Just thought dropping a full grain might not
be enough.
Again thanks
Tater

I bet someone who knows the volume differential will chime in.
I never played with Win so I am if little help.

Re: Birthday yields Lapua Brass and a question..

Thanks everybody.

918v, Thanks my friend, I was second guessing myself.

264win, I think I’ll keep her. Last Christmas I found 16 lbs. of Varget
And 8 cartons of primers under the tree. She is very resourceful.

Thanks again everybody,
Tater

Re: Birthday yields Lapua Brass and a question..

It sounds unscientific but you could load to the same place in the case with the same powder and work from there. Lapua brass is so hard, you can load it hotter ie same charges, than Win. if you wish to. The case is the weak link and now your weak link just got stronger.
