Well I just received my upgraded bolt from DPMS for my G2 Recon and this is what it looks like. It is rough on the hand where you can see it shining. I have some stones where I can “smooth” it out and that is my question, should I lightly take the “burrs” out of it or will it rough or mess anything up if I leave it alone and run it like it is?

I personally would return it as damaged mostly on principal alone but thats not my call. If you plan on keeping it just knock off the high spots with some emery cloth and do a check fit in the carrier and the dinged up spots were your extractor goes.
Look it over really good at the lugs lead in edges and locking surfaces on the back as well.
What did they ship it to you with a box of hammers?

That’s what I was thinking myself. They dropped it on the concrete and and kicked it all the way to the post office. I will probably email them the pictures and see what they say but was just curious if hitting those spots would be ok.

DPMS said that the bolt was “test fired” and it should cause no problems. I find it very hard to believe they test fired this bare bolt before they sent me a replacement. I asked if they could send me a new one and me send this back they said mine was fine and that was with the pictures I sent that I attached to this thread. They also said they would need the complete rifle IF they were going to do anything like that.

I received the bolt the first time without sending in my rifle. SMH......

That kinda sucks but am not surprised, I never have cared for DPMS products but have never owned or cared to own a large frame AR And have allways built my own small frame rifles. There doesn't appear to be even the slightest rub or wear mark in the phosphate finish anywhere on the bolt in your pics so as far as it being test fired they're full of shit.
Anyway it's your money and I assume you won't be giving anymore of it to DPMS.

Yeah I am a little shocked they wouldn’t just send me another one???? First DPMS rifle and I am actually happy and surprised with how accurate this thing is. Really is a great rifle. Customer service on the other hand.....Sucks. That to me goes ahead of purchasing anymore products from them.
