The pins in my stainless bracelets for my Luminox watches keep getting loose and fall out.. I need to find replacements that will hold up to abuse. Anyone got any recommendations ? Thanks!

I have been wearing the watch band in the above link to work every day for the last 10 years. It has been through every type of climate and terrain that you can think of. The only sign of wear is that the "water borne" label has started to fray. I also have one on my dive watch that has seen over 100 dives with no problems.

Hot damn! Thanks for the link Mike! Been looking for those suckers for at least the last 8 years. Bought my first in Austrailia way back in the day.
+1000 for the waterborne straps holding up for years no issues. OK not exactly true they will start smelling ripe, VERY RIPE after a decade of constant wear even with routine soakings in bleach and HTH solution.
BTW Mike mine was on my original gen 1 Citizen Auqualand LOL, remember when all the cool kids just had to have that watch

Same thing for me!! Mine is a first gen Citizen as well. Funky thing is I've spent more in repair and batteries than I ever did on the watch to begin with. It's so banged up with so many memories I cant bear to get rid of it.

Same thing for me!! Mine is a first gen Citizen as well. Funky thing is I've spent more in repair and batteries than I ever did on the watch to begin with. It's so banged up with so many memories I cant bear to get rid of it.

I got one of those at a dive shop in Okinawa in December of 1995...I <span style="font-style: italic">still</span> have it. It's outlasted 4 watches. Have worn it everywhere, all the time.

They are very durable. I also have a Waterborne that i bought at the dive locker on base in Panama City years ago, I believe in 1993, still going strong, but not as heavy gauged as the Maratac's.
They are also the best place for Marathon watches.

I would disagree about the Waterborne not as strong as the Zulu. It is possible you may have got one of the Waterbornes made in Taiwan as the Waterborne I have here, when compared to the Zulu I have here, is a much sturdier and stronger band. Not to take away from the Zulu's, but the Waterborne is beefier.

I bought a waterborne back in 97 when I first became and assistant instructor for NAUI, and it was still going strong last year when I ordered a replacement due to it being faded too bad. The new one I got wasn't near what the old one was. The holes where offset and not centered and the band was just soft and flimsy, not at all like the stiff robust one I got way back. I didn't realize they made some in taiwan, that could explain the diffrence in quality.

I have a Waterborne on my Casio. It survived for a long time in the high desert as well as in the jungle.
I still have that watch with the original band on it and wear it for old time's sake once in awhile.

Maratac has a interesting way of knocking off other peoples designs. Their version of the Waterborne watch band seems to be identical to the original.
Countycomm has cool gear, but much of it is made in China and I have a hard time supporting Maratac after they knocked off our Go-Bag.
Waterborne has a excellent product, and I have enjoyed mine for many years.

Do the any of the watches mentioned have integeral solid bars, or do they use the conventional spring plunger type?
I ask because I seem to have a habit of poping off watches with the conventional spring plunger type bars...

Nope, made in Australia. I have several Maratac ZULU's and all are a stiffer and a heavier gauge material than my Waterborne's. The Waterborne is more similar to the NATO straps. As Waterborne goes, they are being inported these days by Innovative SCUBA Concepts, don't know where they are made, but Maratac makes everything in the US at their facility in California. The gentleman that owns Maratac also owns CountyComm.com.

I noticed.. With the two piece.. if a pin pops at the wrong time...bye bye watch. With the one piece, the other pin will retain the watch case from falling to where it don't belong. I think the one piece is the way to go for extreme use.
When the pin came out of my luminox bracelet ,it was in the kitchen sink washing my hands after I drove 30 miles on the highway. I tend to drive with my watch hand out the window alot.. It would not have been cool if the pin fell out while my hand is dangling out the window rollin' at 70mph. And then having to double back and dodge traffic to retrieve it.. That would've made for a fun day !

To the guys that have the Maratac ZULU straps.. Do you think I will be able to squeeze a 24mm strap into 23mm lugs? I could get a 22mm but I don't want any slop. Thanks for all the replies !

You are better off with a slightly larger strap than a slightly smaller one. You should be fine.
