Bore Snake Technique/Cleaning

    How do you clean your bore snakes? I have ran mine through the washer in a washing bag. They get all tangled up and also get a lot of the washing bag material stuck in the brush. How often do you clean yours? Looking for tips and hints on cleaning these bad boys. I have 2 for every caliber and one of the two is the designated dirty one that always goes down the barrel first with solvent on it typically clp, the second is the follow up that is completely dry. I use them for intermediary cleaning. The heavy cleaning I leave to Butch's Bore Shine and bristle brush wrapped in a patch but I don't do this very often the snakes take care of basic cleaning.

    I clean mine with just soap / water by hand and let 100% air dry after about 15 to 20 bore cleanings

    This is the same thing I do. I also run a couple patches first to get the big stuff out before I run the snake.

    for anyone looking to get a boresnake the .22 cal boresnakes are perfect. But if you want any larger caliber snakes get the next size above your caliber. Or it won't work for shi...
