Rifle Scopes Bought a US Optics Scope

I bought a 3.5-17x44 Tpal with Erek knob and RDP MOA reticle. It was hard spending that kind of money on a scope, so will I be pleased with this vs. Just going with a Night force 5.5-20x50?

Also, if someone would be kind enough to post the video that shows how to work the zerostop function I would be much appreciative.

What ring height should I go with? It's going on top of a Surgeon 591 with a M24 contour.

You will love it: As to ring height, with my 3.2-17x44mm 30mm Tube w/T-Pal, I'm using a Badger 20 MOA base, with Badger Low (0.823") Rings, Rem Varmint Contour Barrel, and have plenty of room...

As for adjusting your EREK knob, try this:

EREK Knob Adjustment

And the EREK knob is not a zero stop per say, but can function as one.

Hey Bob, the video is not working for me on the iPhone.

How can the EREK knob be used as a "zero stop"? I just want to be able to set my zero and then if I lose my concentration or something I can just spin it back down to my zero.

Once I get my build and it on my rifle maybe we can get up and you can help me set it/get it zeroed? Let me know, I'll bring the food!

Your moving the erector. You usually leave 1.5 MOA under your zero to the bottom of the erector. That leaves you with the rest of the travel to dial elevation. Trust me if you get confused and lose your zero you will have no problem finding it.

Wellll..... I cancelled my order on the US Optics becuase I found a Nightforce F1 (used but only mounted then taken off)

The guy wanted more magnification then what the 3.5-15 could offer so he sold it for $1900 with rings and shipping. Thats about $700 dollars cheaper and rings come with it so I don't have to pay another $200 on top of what the SN3 was.

I know I may regret it but it was just too hard to spend that kind of money right now. I know the US has better glass but I think the Nightforce will do more then I need it to do.

Is it an older one or newer one? Is it marked "Made in Japan"?

NF makes an excellent scope and I'm sure you'll be happy with it.

Not sure, that's why I asked. I actually haven't gotten to mess with many F1's. I remember checking one out that had that "halo" effect going on really bad, then I saw one Mark Hartwell with Storm Tactical had and it was really good.

Hopefully it does not have any type of "halo" effect. I will find out in a couple days. I got it from BJ at 3rd gdn shooting so I would hope he would not sell me something like that. He said nothing was wrong with it and that he just took in it from one of His buddies who just bought it but wanted more magnification.

I hope it's ok, if not would Nightforce take it and fix it? Is there customer service anything like Vortex?

I'll post on it as soon as it gets here.

From what Lowlight stated in a post when they first released the F1 is that they are made in the USA.

K9222, don't sweat it. You made a good choice. I had a few F1s and there was no problem with the scopes. Have only heard of a few with problems. It will work fine for you.

The F1s are made in the US. All the NF scopes are assembled here but some use enough parts from outside the US that they have to be marked Made in Japan.

Don't worry about little problems others have had. Test the scope for tracking, reticle subtension, parallax adjustment and that the power ring adjusts smoothly and you will be fine. Don't start psyching yourself up to thinking something will be wrong.

True dat. I'm excited about my choice. I have been reading alot and there are so many different opinions but the majority were excellent.

Some went on to say they liked the Nightforce better.

Either way I'm just happy I got a scope (Thanks Honey),
Instead of buying me a nice ring or watch for our marriage coming up this was my gift. I got this scope and a fifty dollar wedding ring...and thats ok with me

Is there a difference in the F1's when they first came out and now? All the F1's come with Zero Stop and HS knobs correct?

I was reading and someone mentioned a Gen 1 F1 but was referring to the MLR reticle. I'm assuming the Gen 1 is referring to the reticle and not the F1 unit itself.

My scope should be here Wednesday, so I will report back as to what I think of it.

Other than the HS turrets opposed to the 5 mil per turns that used to be on them and the new reticle choices they should have the same features like the zero stop.

The MLR is a reticle that came in the F1 along with the standard mildot. The MLR2 is a better reticle. They were probably referring to the reticle or as sometimes happens on the site people make up their own designators for things like calling the older older F1 with the 5 mil per turn knob a Gen 1.
