That ain't Brandy and Old Fashions come with Brandy. At least in God's country they do.My go-to for making an Old Fashioned. Good enough for me (I am aware that the Whistle Pig is a Rye, thanks in advance).

While OGD is owned by Beam it isn't the same as Jim Beam or Old Crow (or anything else Beam makes). It is the one product they own that is it's own formula and more importantly a different yeast strain. No its a real Bourbon from Beam its just the bottom of the barrel.
As far as Beam products if you can find Old Grand Dad 114 is way better than that Old Crow that way back was
a fine bourbon when bourbon was a poors drink.
I appreciate a good bourbon as much as the next guy, but if you’re going to mix it, it’s a solid choice. EW and Beam are probably my favorites. Like a previous poster said, sub $18 for a handle is hard to beat. That and Benchmark for bottom of the barrel poor people like me.
I was always told Rye for old fashioned old fashions. That ain't Brandy and Old Fashions come with Brandy. At least in God's country they do.![]()

You are correct OGD has a higher percentage of rye 27% vs 13% for pretty much everything else, not sure on the yeast as they guard thatWhile OGD is owned by Beam it isn't the same as Jim Beam or Old Crow (or anything else Beam makes). I've never been a fan of the funky taste Jim Beam has which is from their yeast choice. I do love OGD 100 and 114 (although it's not as good as it was ~8 years or so ago but what is).
If can find an older one is a little less hot (likely more age) and taste best summed up by another as "the burnt corner out of a brownie pan"You are correct OGD has a higher percentage of rye 27% vs 13% for pretty much everything else, not sure on the yeast as they guard that
like its gold.
Older bottles of Bookers is my favorite bourbon, it has a just right viscosity (thickness) to it.
I just picked OGD 114 because is good and CHEAP.
You are hilarious.Congrats on your commitee selected barrel proof Jim Beam.![]()
Booker is a select barrel strength Beam. The select barrels is what makes the difference. There’s a very distinct difference in Elmer T Lee and Blantons too, even though they are the same mash bill. Age and location of aging made all the difference
Only in Wisconsin, and I still order them with Whiskey. And sour, never sweet. That ain't Brandy and Old Fashions come with Brandy. At least in God's country they do.![]()

Count yourself lucky brother. I wish Old Crow, Ten High, etc. did not taste like rotgut ass to me.
It would save me thousands a year. Jim Beam and Coke Zero is about as low as I go.
Fucking Poors.
