Quick question. I recently started reloading and put my brass through a tumbler to make them shiny and get rid of the crud on the brass. I reloaded 60 of them and when I try to eject 8 of them won't catch and remain in the chamber. There is nothing to the naked eye that would suggest these wouldn't extract like the other 52 do. I was more less wondering what causes this, because I've never heard of it happening and would it be safe to shoot these rounds and then throw the brass away? Any comments are welcome.

Check the rim of the brass to make sure it is not damage in some way or bent. What gun are you shooting? I know the Rem 700s bolt doesn't not seem to extract the case with the same "grip" as some of the other bolt designs. If you have access to another gun in the same caliber, see if it will eject them. Not sure about this, but you might want to check your headspace also just to make sure it is good, though I am not sure that this would have a lot to do with extraction, but just a thought.

Was all the brass fired in your rifle? Do the rounds chamber with any resistance ? Are you just neck sizing the brass ? I would pull the bullets and resize the brass after giving your full length size die a good cleaning,if your FL sizing that is.I've had the die get full of crud + lube and it didn't size the last couple pcs fully.
Bugged the crap out of me trying to find what the F was going on.If your FL die is clean,turn the die in slightly and try to chamber the brass in the rifle to see if it'll fit/extract.If not,size it a little more and check till it does.If you still have problems with the brass,throw it out.Lifes to short to be worrying about 8 pcs of brass.

So how did you get them out of the chamber? Cleaning rod? How much force did it take? As other said make sure you check the extractor for crud or a sliver of brass.

Is the brass once fired ex military brass?
If not check your extractor claw it may be jamed up with crud or brass chips.
If the case rims are undamaged then it has to be something wrong with the extractor claw .
The extractor and ejector are two different things and do two seperate jobs.
Look at the inside edge of the rims of the case that will not extract very closely.
If the rim is damaged or mal formed it might be the problem.

Sizing should have nothing to do with it if as he says all he needs to do is tip the muzzle up and the case falls out. This is an extractor problem or case rim.

That's what I was thinking, but I'm no gunsmith and the extractor looks clean to me (I cleaned it to see if that was the problem) and they still don't extract. I will have to rule the case rim to be the problem. I can't find out why because all of the cases are running 2.005" in length and the rim around is all the same within .001 of each ones (ejecting and nons) I am consfused about this. They all look the same to me. Now the question is would they be safe to shoot or throw them away?

Your extractor? Cheap to replace an a rem700. I would give it a try. Take to a smith. Havn't found one that can't handle this job and they should have on hand.
