Good call. Hadn't crossed my mind yet. The guy that filmed the video in the original Fox article said that he was "running" prior to being engulfed in flames. Perhaps he got his hands on some real plastic explosives but used a faulty detonator or did not use a primer at all, thought he could achieve detonation with a match and firecracker fuse, and ended up turning himself into a walking road flare.
The way he is engulfed from shirt to feet, if it was a "vest" I would guess more anfo.

That seems a bit less likely given the fairly even distribution of whatever that shit burning was. Good bit of smoke coming off, too. Diesel could/probably was a component.
He definitely took it like a champ. Still a horrible thing. With that level of burns he's going to require massive amounts of fluids and will likely die anyway.

That's pretty fucking sickening if you ask me. I can't imagine what would drive a man to do that to himself, his family, or the people who have to deal with him after he's charred himself.
