Re: Breaking Bad

Not sure when the end of the series is planned, but in TV interview last week, the lead actor Brian Cranston said that by the time it is all over, they will have transformed the likeable, soft-spoken teacher into Scarface.

I thought they'd figure a way for him to turn around and gain some redemption for the ever-deepening hole he keeps digging, but it looks like this is a one way trip to hell for the guy.

Re: Breaking Bad

Ya I like this show. I wonder if somehow walts wife gets killed and that pushes walt into a revenge? Somehow he is going to have to get pissed off and then turn into a real bad guy.

Re: Breaking Bad

season 2 kicked ass . the main set of characters really evolved. I really like the way the character of 'Walt' slowly turns/transforms into the mythical druglord of the product 'blue-sky' & called 'Heisenberg'. good writing.
Also when he had to go find Jessy in the flop-house were all the junkies were hanging. Was really where Walt saw and had to face 'the fruits' of his handiwork and it's end result on trade of human life for monetary gains & his families security . No way to keep hiding who he was from himself & From that point on he was Heisenberg .
Damn good writing. Walt, a Teacher & Chemist & leads a simple, honest & straightforward life. Even though not a drug user and just trying to give his family a little security/$$ before dieing of cancer and left penny-less from hospital bills. Ends-up in he end to suffer from the same ills as the Meth addicts themselves. He never used Crystal Meth. but he ends-up lying and using excuses and hiding his life from all he loves and cares about. While his life revolves around the drug. Then Looses all he loves. Wife, son and baby and is left alone to choose between Walt or Heisenberg .
Also he ends-up loving and trusting and also have more in common with Jessy than his family. When in the beginning he hated and despised Jessy for who he let himself become after leaving his teaching and school.

Re: Breaking Bad

I see that the two Mexican Heavies are connected to Gustavo "the Fast Food Restaurant guy".
They were gunna whack Walt when he was in the shower but Gustavo called them (because Mike called him to let him know that something bad was going down) and they were gone before Walt came out of the head. But he knew somebody had been there because that"Eyeball" was not where he left it.

I really liked it when Hank was helping Walt load his stuff when Skylar kicked him out. Hank grabbed the duffle with all that cash in it and said "what do you have in there, Cinder Blocks? Walt said " a half a million in cash". If Hank only knew.

Re: Breaking Bad

The eyeball came from the mid-air collision over town and fell from the sky into Walter's pool. He found it when cleaning the pool of the money he was going to BBQ but threw it in the pool to douse the fire when he changed his mind.

Re: Breaking Bad

Good question. I think walt really likes his new lab partner and wont likely be in a hurry to bring jessy in on that op. Its also going to get good with the mexicans hunting their new mark.

Agreed. I believe there's only one more show this season ... should be a good one.

Re: Breaking Bad

but every time they end up in what appears to be a no-win situation, they find a way out.
I see Walt learning from Gus, and moving to usurp. He already spots Gus' moves, he's just not connected enough yet.
Assuming Jessie did it, there can't be a status quo, and there's no way to back out of everyting at this point; only up remains. Walt's willingness to take some of the actions he has lately shows he might have the intestinal fortitude and/or desperation to do Gus's job.
Of course there was a shot at the end of the last episode, but was it Jessie's gun, or the Mexican guy that ran to chase him down once Walt gave the order? I don't see a way out for Walt in that scenario, but who knows what the writers might dream up.

Re: Breaking Bad

I can't watch it. It hits a little too close to home for me.

I got caught in the middle of one of those shit-wars. The little turd upstairs in the apartment building where I stayed was a small time dealer. He just happened to 'host' some heavies who came to take another small timer over to their boss for a 'talking to'. Which by accident, I came face to face with as they were going out. That POS decides he's going to make a name for himself. He decides to kill the kid. Now, I'm a Federal witness. My wife was finishing college in another state. So she didn't get to put up with the threats for the next few weeks. She say's I overblow it, BTW.

Nothing quite like the "OH SHIT!" look on the drivers face when he saw the crosshairs on his chest as the goon squad hauled ass outta my AO after one drive-by. Many times I wished I'd have pulled the trigger. But, then again, I'm glad I didn't. Because I'd be in the pen.

I requested and was assigned to work in Denver for a couple months. That was a relief.

Re: Breaking Bad

I just started watching Breaking Bad. I have season 1 and 2 and now like a friggin' fiend jonesing for a hit of scante I have to watch season 3!

I'm very impressed with the writing and the way the characters have developed. Jesse (and the actor that portrays him) started out a little on the weak side (as an actor and) as a character but he has become such a pivotal character. His constant gaffs and fcukups make the show. I also like the way Walt has slowly transformed and grown a set of balls. I don't know where the next seasons are going with his character but I can see him becoming a serious player in the drug world. He has the brains and the ambition. This show has really turned out to be some top notch television. I’m going to rank it right up there with The Shield, Deadwood, Rome, and Six Feet Under.

Re: Breaking Bad

I can't wait for the next season. Been hooked on this show from the start. I think one of the best times they show Walt transforming was when he put the squeegee across the battery of that a$$hat's Mustang.

Re: Breaking Bad

I'm hooked on it but it's painful to watch. Walt starts out as a genuinely nice guy but his misfortune leads him to take a series of BAD decisions for the best of reasons. The problem is, under the same circumstances, I can see me taking those same decisions. So Walt's divorce and his estrangement from his children and all the rest makes me squirm.

When he first walked into the lab, that's the closest Gus has come so showing any emotion the entire series.

I thought he was a new face so I looked up his history. Come to find out, I've seen him in about 200 Spike Lee movies but that was always with a jheri curl.

Re: Breaking Bad

Walt doesn't have to worry about Gus killing him, he's going to do himself in. In the last two episodes, he's said incredibly stupid things likely to get him caught or turned in to his DEA-agent brother-in-law and to his estranged wife.

It doesn't wash that Walt can go from being so brilliant and conniving to such a dumb fuck. I think they're running out of plot. Maybe they should have taken a season off to let the writers' batteries recharge.

Re: Breaking Bad

Great show.

My favorite episode is when the DEA agents found the turtle with the human head on top, in the desert, with a note....booby trapped.

Hank shit his pants on that one.

I think the fact that he was drinking heavily played a part in it. He didn't like being upstaged when is BIL made comments on what a genius Gale was. That played on Walt's ego and the alcohol did the rest.

Re: Breaking Bad

Gus is cleaning house big time. Skyler is still a giant twat, Walt is just losing it and falling to pieces. I loved Mikes line in last nights episode, "either we're all getting out of here, or none of us are getting out of here".

Re: Breaking Bad

Jessie's blue is still 2% less pure than Walt's, which means Jessie's cooking is about the equal of Gale's. And Gus was planning to replace Walt with Gale (until Jessie whacked him).

So now I'm wondering if Gus will decide Jessie's cooking is good enough. At first, Walt was the only thing keeping Gus from killing Jessie. Now it could be the other way around.

Re: Breaking Bad

Getting out of Mexico could be an interesting show in itself.
Well played meeting in Mexico. Now he has to finish off the remaining cappo in the nursing home. Pay back is a bitch.
