Neither one has shot in years or knew about the situation brewing on the border until I told them about it today.

Day'um. Most everybody I know here or in Virginia has guns (plural).
Everyone I know or knew own guns but they aren't what I call friends. If I called them and asked if they want to join a militia they'd act like I was some kind of nut.
Bragging they'd blow someone away if they tried to break into their house and actively getting off their ass and being part of a well armed militia are two different things.
I know a bunch of the former, none of the latter.

Texas may not have millions of fighting age males but people like myself would gladly go and defend Texas and our borders if need be. And I might know a thing or two about stuff and I know there is plenty more like me in other states. I’d be willing to bet that there is more that would volunteer than you think, given the right opportunity. As far as knowing people that own weapons, if you only know 2 then you need to make more friends. Literally everyone I know owns weapons and it ain’t just 1-2. I agree. Shit when I went to the doc today they knew who I was before I even entered the building. Tell me that ain’t some scary shit? I mean it’s really just cause they got my DL on file and have someone watching the cams and putting two and two together but it was so fast they even had time to print out my scripts on paper and all my paperwork out before I got to the desk. My generation of shooters is fading away fast. Good friend and fellow shooter Chip McCormick died suddenly in July of '21, the two friends I mentioned both hunted and shot with Chip and me and were avid shooters at one time. One competed with him in the 80's, the other worked for him as an engineer. I got super pissed off at both of them today because they didn't know what was happening on the border. One didn't care, he's more worried about his latest imaginary health problem, a sinus infection.
I built and ran a shooting range and was surrounded by friends that owned guns. The range, the practical pistol club I shot with, they're now all gone. The end of an era.
I still shoot to sight a gun in and keep my skills honed. But to call a bunch of close friends to go shoot, they're all gone now. When you get close to seventy you'll wonder what happened to all your shooting buddies.

I’m not sure what federal statutes would apply to a Texan protecting Texas ground. With many violations of federal statutes, there needs to be an interstate nexus. For those traveling to Texas from other states, or shooting across a border, things could get much more sticky.

How do I know this? Logic, for one, but now I have a solid example to back it up too.
As Bonchie reported on Friday, the Border Patrol Union effectively shrugged off the idea that they would begin attempting to arrest Texas National Guard members for directly defying the Supreme Court and continuing to leave up the border defenses the state of Texas erected to stop illegal immigrants from flooding into the state and the country. They're not even going to try to remove the razor wire Texas set up to boot.
As Bonchie points out, Biden just had his teeth ripped out of his figurative mouth by his own men. Texas wins, and such, America wins.
At least for now.
But the signal just sent to Biden, and indeed the Democrats, should be very clear at this point: You don't have F-35s because there wouldn't be anyone there to fly them. Even if he did have a handful of pilots willing to commit treason against the American people, they'd be outnumbered by the pilots willing to protect them.
Not that any of this matters either. As I wrote previously, Biden would lose a civil war even with his military intact by the time Biden starts ordering his generals to move against the American people:

In fact, only 1 out of around 10 people are actually combat-ready, the rest fall into support roles. So that leaves around 130,000 people to go out and fight…millions of gun owners in their own territory.
That’s a lot of territories to try to conquer and hold, and in the reality we currently inhabit, Biden doesn’t have the resources to do so.
If Biden can't even stop his own Border Patrol agents from turning on him, how does he think he's going to stop anyone from the Air Force, the Navy, the Army, or the Marines (oh, God...the Marines) from flipping him the bird before turning their guns in the opposite direction?

Anyone that still watches any TV at all is clueless to how much they are being programmed. Take 6 months of no TV, I promise you won't be able to watch it ever again. Even movies it's bad.
