Rifle Scopes Broke a MK4 ring today on one of my rifles.....

Was shooting my 300 when I noticed this. Had a 3' flyer at 500 so started looking hard and found this.

MK4 Meduim ring
MK4 Scope 4-14X50
GAP 300WM
Badger Base.

Rings have about 2500 308 on them and 250-300 300WM rounds on them.

Will call leup tommorrow to see if they will send me a new piece since all that broke was the little claw.

torqued to 60inch pounds.

Doesnt seem to be and seems freak. not gonna ditch em will just fix them and truck on. Just hope Luep can hook me up with that one piece.

The mark 4 rings are good quality, not as high as badger or seeking IMHO, but they hold up well.

Poke, let us know what Leupold tells you, I hope they fix you up. Best of luck to you.

I have two sets of MK4 rings and a set of Nighforce. They are all really good rings! I have seen the Leupy rings get the snot abused out of them at NTC and JRTC (the boys take better care of them while deployed) and they help up like champs. This seems to be a one off unlucky fluke?

Makes a guy kind of nervous about those rings, I've got virtually the same set up, think I'm going to be taken a look every once in while now.

I'm sure they'll take care of you. Let us know what you find out and if they can tell you why it may have happened.

Gonna chalk it up to shit happens. Would look at it a bit harder if I was relying on my gear for more than a hobby though. This would be a show stopper if you were down to that one shot that really matters.

Update on this,

Shot a call in to Leup after I posted about it. Shortly after I headed over to SC for the last couple of weeks. Upon getting home Friday Leup had sent me a new piece and she is back in action. Took 1 e-mail to confirm my addy and that was about it. Would say thats pretty good CS.

Which Mark 4 rings where these the Aluminium or Steel? In my experience Leupold is the fastest in the Business when it comes to CS and turn around time.

Agreed on the CS, sent my Mk4 for some m1's and TMR. From LA, it was back in my hands GTG in 8 business days. Very happy with their CS. Glad that Leup took care of you on the rings. I'm sure it's happened before, but i've never really heard of Mk4 rings taking a dump, so hopefully yours was just a one off.

This is only the 2nd MK4 I've seen take a dump (out of hundreds), IIRC the other was the ring "cap" (for lack of a better term) on a buddies Sendero in 300RUM & just like you, he was taken care of immediately.

Don't sweat it, those rings are high quality, as you said "Shit Happens".
