I have a number of them (along with Kriegers, Bartleins, Harts, Pac Nors, etc.) and we also sell them - excellent cut rifled barrels - right on par with the best of the best (in my opinion). I would not hesitate to use their barrels.

Mine will barely hold MOA to 300, and it gets WAY worse from there.

Saving up for a Bartlein or Rock.

I had an issue like that with one of their barrels.

They replaced it at no charge with a shooter. I have two other Brux barrels that shoot excellent. Might give them a call.

Did you call or contact them? I have never seen a barrel company so ate up with making sure that their customers are 100% satisfied with the quality of their products. You are the very first person that I have ever heard having any issue with a Brux barrel. Again, you should contact Brux and let them know what the issues were and I would almost guarantee that these folks will work with you to make sure that you never buy any other barrel, but theirs in the future.

No offense but could it have been the chambering job or the crown was not done correctly?

Every barrel makers has non-shooters. it is what they do with them that makes them a great company. Brux is an extremely good barrel maker, right there with Kreiger, Broughton, Benchmark, Hart and Rock.

But since we're talking about Brux's customer service, you're saying they'll let me send the shitty barrel (on the receiver) to them, they'll thread/install/chamber a new one and thread the muzzle for me for free?

You'll pardon me for remaining skeptical.

Shoulda just sold the action once the original barrel was shot out and bought another factory 5R.

Knock them if you like, but every barrel maker might have a screw up from time to time. You may not have hit one from the others just yet

my Brux/Robert Snyder .223 AI is the most accurate rifle i own. i have another Brux at the smith right now going to be a light weight .264 Win. and one more Brux .223 1-8" Med Palma barrel on the shelf. i also run Hart, Lilja, and Krieger and i rank Brux with the best.

I order a custom contour Brux Barrel for my 338 build and got in a few weeks ago. It took about 10-12 weeks to get it. It is a great looking barrel and the interrupted fluting is awesome. I can't wait to get it chambered and see how it does. I have only heard great things about Brux barrels! They were a pleasure to talk to on the phone and very knowledgeable.

So if my gunsmith was the one who ordered it for the build, I guess that makes him the original owner.

Just for reference, Hornady Superformance 178's out of my 10-twist tube will OCCASIONALLY do as well as .8" for 5 rounds. All handloads tried (RL-15, Varget, 4350; 150NBT, 168NBT, 168TSX, 175SMK, 168SMK, 208Amax, 178Amax) will hold 1.25" or so at 100 for 5 shots. That's with 3 different shooters and 2 different scopes, all screws properly torqued and optic-mounting hardware secured with blue loctite.

Same handloads would routinely shoot .5 or better from a bone-stock 700 5R.

Seems like you're really making is difficult for Brux to do the right thing. If the barrel's bad, that's water under the bridge. Sounds like Brux is trying to take care of you, but you're just not having any of it. You must have money to burn, since you're not trying to salvage the situation, even when the manufacturer is coming to you.

You should at least talk with them to see what can be worked out.

I have a Brux on order that should be here in a couple of weeks. Lead time was the final deal maker since I want to complete my rifle this year. Brux quoted 8 to 12 weeks as well did Pacnor. Krieger said 25 weeks and Barltein said 8 months. These are all quality barrel makers and if you're got the time to wait than it'll boil down to your preference.

What I interpreted from these quotes lead times is that these companies are doing well in a difficult economy and that their products are highly valued.

I was tickled to be able to order a Brux cut rifled barrel in what I now consider "short order".

It really doesn't get much more fucking direct than that. So therefore I posted my experience. I did not blast them or knock their product. I shared the results I experienced, and stated my reluctance to continue to use their product. Nothing more.

They included the caveat of "as long as you are the original owner". Technically, since my smith was the one who placed the order, that would make him the original customer of theirs, not me. By that logic, I did not qualify for their service.

Follow the context clues to see just how asinine a statement that really is. Here's a big hint: look at my signature block. If you still think I work for a rival barrel maker, then your school system failed you as you were growing up.

I really appreciate everyone feeling the need to dog-pile on me for being open and honest about my issues with the Brux tube on my rifle. Especially since not a single fucking one of you knows whether I've even tried to call them. For the record, I can't call them until I'm off work this afternoon; we don't have any outside phone lines and only two unclass boxes in my shop.

But hey, it's easier to assume when you don't know the facts, isn't it?

Just to avoid any lack of clarification from my previous post; I got off work well late tonight and will plan on contacting you tomorrow. I appreciate your willingness to help, and certainly hope nothing I said came across as dragging Brux through the mud.

Admittedly I've been tying up what little free time I do have to trying many various loads, shooting positions, etc. to make sure everything else got ruled out before saying it was the barrel.

I know Michael doesn't recommend something without a LOT of personal experience with it, so I was a bit confused as to the performance I'd been seeing.

Great to know you guys are as customer-oriented as you are.

To the OP, I have a Brux chambered in 25-06 it shoots lights out, and shows very minimal copper fouling. And the best thing was...I got it 18 days, yes 18 days, from the time I picked up the phone and made the call. That was in Oct./Nov mind you, I must have gotten lucky. I know their lead time has changed now but seriously, they are good to go.

sorry you got a bad barrel man.. However, after re-barreling two rifles in two different calibers, and watching them bughole, I will go out on a limb and say that yours is an exception and not the rule.

I shot with a guy in Iowa that shot a 284 with a Brux barrel. Hands down a shooting gun.

What I read was someone that did not take the time to call the manufacturer to inquire about the situation and then decided it was OK to act like you were raped and left for dead. I was just trying to let you know that you were only pinched on the butt and kissed was all.

If this thread is any indication of your typical posts, I doubt that I even hold a candle to you my friend. Hope your discussion with Brux brings a solution to your issue. Of course they will. Never said they wouldn't. Have talked to them, and am making arrangements to get it back to CCA to have the current barrel pulled and a new one (gratis from Brux) installed.

The name-calling is neat though. Keep that up. It adds a great deal of credibility, a la The Gooch.
