Budget friendly upgrades?

I have a Remington 700 LT Tactical rifle. It has a 20" 1:10" twist fluted heavy barrel and what i believe is just a standard SPS stock (it's the same stock you'll see on the 700 VTR) I would love to replace the stock with any number of amazing stocks out there, however, with my wedding coming up, and me going to school soon, spending $300-$3000 on a new custom tactical stock is just not reasonable for me to justify... although justify it, i can... I am looking for budget friendly ways to improve consistency and accuracy.

I have heard of people filling their polymer stocks with a rigid foam, does this do anything beneficial, other than extra weight? also, should i look into bedding? i know i want to go in and sand down any spots that have contact with the barrel...

please share any thoughts, opinions, or experiences that you may have. Thanks.

ALSO ALSO, i want a DBM... i don't need one, but i want one... terribly. again, they are (relatively) expensive... so if anyone knows of any less expensive options for a 700 s/a DBM conversion kit, i would also be incredibly interested in hearing about that. Thanks!!!

Depending on your trigger i know thats a pretty reasonably priced upgrade that makes a huge difference.

As for cheap stocks, i bet you could skim through the classifieds on tis forum and find some nice stocks people are selling.

As for bedding i have no clue at all.

Look into Bell and Carlson stocks, they have decent stocks for all types of budgets and needs.

The bedding will all depend on your stock, if it is a cheaper stock then bedding will more than likely be the best option to help with accuracy, in terms of modifications to the stock.
Some stocks come with aluminum bedding blocks, which some can still benefit from a good bed job but the difference in it will not be as much as in a cheap stock. I would still bed just to get the action to mate better with the stock but it is not as needed.

I have an Atlas Worx DBM and it works great and cheaper than mostly all others. I put it on my HS Precision stock (came with my 700P) and all was good until I came across a guy training at a range I go to. He had the Mcree Precision stock and I fell in love with how it could fit and the the great feel to it completely. Now I am going to sell my stock and DBM to have enough to get a Mcree or XLR. You can read about the Atlas DBM on a thread on this site, they have all kinds of good information on it there. CDI makes a good one from what I have read and their pricing is much better now I believe, especially when they run their group buy.

Went down the same path with my 700P, added a Atlas worx DBM from the group buy, and coworker has a AICS 1.5.

Just ordered a Viper HS 5x15 from the Midway special and going to take classes and get rounds downrange.

What are some reasonable triggers and bolts and won't break the bank?

go with a PT&G DBM, bell and carlson stock, timney 510. dont skimp on the optic. and you getting married more than justifies spending 3000 because once you are married you definitely wont be able to spend it

i forgot to mention that i already have glass, I'm just looking for improvementy type things. I have a Leupold Mk4 TMR 3.5-10x40. not the best, but, good enough for anything i would need to use it for and then some. for now anyway...

Best budget conscious stock would be a LTR or 700P takeoff should come in under $200 and provide plenty of accuracy opportunity. I personally can't convince myself to drop enough to put a detachable mag on my rifle so I instead invested in a loading kit to get the most out of my rifle.

I've upgraded my 700 sps tac. 308 on a budget.

The best upgrades i've made so far is a Takeoff HS Precision stock (which we glass bedded) and a Karsten cheek piece. The factory trigger is decent enough once adjusted.

I didn't realize how much I would like/appreciate the Karsten cheek piece. If only there was a way to also have an ammo holder but it is well worth the 50-60 upgrade esepcially if you run a 50mm scope.
