Building A Custom Rifle

I am new to long range shooting and new to the forum as well. I did a lot of reading here before I joined and have learned a lot. I'm trying to learn as much as I can about custom riles as the workmanship in the examples that I have seen has been exemplary. I have a question for the custom builders out there...on average, how many man hours are involved in building a custom rifle? I know there are a lot of variables but was just wondering what an average time is? Thanks.

I've done my fair share of bedding, modding triggers, stock work ect but haven't got my feet wet in machining yet. I'm curious too as to how long it takes to machine a barrel blank, fit it, square and true receivers ect.

This is a nice place to learn. You might get thousands of replies to your question, or only a few beceause of the broadness. I think you need to better define "building a custom rifle". Maybe even start with a budget to frame your how long question. There is a vast difference between truing an action and rebarreling to get a "custom" gun vice from scratch machining metal-stock doing a one-off build.

What I mean by building a custom rifle is taking a action and preparing a barrel to mate to it and installing everything in a stock or chassis. Basically, taking high end components and putting everything together with precision and craftsmanship.
