i use a empty case and seat a bullet into it to set up my seating die. However, once the case came out from the die with the bullet in it, the shape of the shoulder of the case has been changed. What cause this happened?
my process is clean the new brass in case tumbler, lube them and go thru the FL die, trim-to-lenght, go thru seating die to set the die
maybe i need to clean the cases again in the tumbler before go thru the seating die??

Re: bullet seating problem

it sounds like your seating die is forming the case somehow. are you using Redding dies? some of them have a crimp feature that can screw with your cases if you set them up so the shell holder bumps the die

Re: bullet seating problem

Sometimes if the seating die is screwed into the press too far it can buckle the shoulder slightly, and give the case a mushroom appearance. Try backing the entire seating die out a couple of turns.

+1. The seating die is screwed too far down. Back it out about 2-3 turns, and try it.
