I used the little search box in the upper left hand corner and all it came back with was a Pappy thread. Just bought a bottle of the Noahs Mill for about $45, it's damn good but at 114 proof I can only get down about 1 to 1.5oz per cigar. Any similar Burbon's that are less proof? How do y'all like the Noahs Mill?

For anyone interested I have one bottle of Pappy's 12 year old for sale. Its going for $600-$700. Ill take $450 and shipping for Hide members. If no one takes it it will go on ebay and Craigslist closer to the holidays when people piss away the most money. Yes, its cut throat as hell but money's tight right now.

That isn't cut throat. Can't even get one Bump fire stock for that anymore. Anyway if that is what it is going for no sense to apologize. Nice of you to make a "'hide" deal.

Not knowing your particular state's taxes on liquor these will be approximate.
Around the same price point (a couple may be 10-15 higher)......from lower to higher.
Bulleit Bourbon, the 10 year is the one you want.
Knob Creek (I prefer the Special Reserve but it's around the same proof so go for the regular)
Blanton's (has a gold horse on top of the cork, smooth stuff)
not a bourbon, it's a sour mash but nothing wrong with Jack Daniel's Single Barrel
Higher proof- Knob Creek Single Barrel or Reserve, or Booker's (my favorite)but it's high proof
Even though some consider it pagan, cut the higher proof ones with a little water (preferably not chlorinated tap water)if you like

By all means, don't be afraid to add a few DROPS of 'branch water'. That would be something clean, clear, pure, and unadulterated. (not chlorinated, flourinated, urinated, or contaminated) A few drops (teaspoon or so) WILL change the flavors somewhat.

And make it less harsh. That will go away in time, the sensitivity to harshness that is. Generally, 3 to 5 years after puberty! Give it time.

And Maggot..... any chance you'll take a kidney in trade? It's about all I gots left! You have NO IDEA how interested I am though....

Knob creek 120 proof I drank that awhile to cut back on my drinking. one of them was like two or 3 of other stuff. and Blantons. I almost killed my self trying to get all of the horses. I have since became afriend of bill. So I’m retired. But I know my stuff and pappy well You can buy a new gun and and a months worth of other good bourbon for that price. I had a hit of it once when I hit a jackpot at a casino.

I like Noah's over ice. Rowans creek comes from the same distillery it's only about 100 proof IIRC. Not a thing wrong with the Knob 120, I just cut it back a little.

The Breckinridge is pretty tasty but it is a blend of Kentucky and Indiana and their own.... at least the bottle that is marked "special release". Maybe they do have their own now??
Another really good Colorado whiskey is from Spirit Hound Distillers in Lyons. Yum Yum.

The water is just as, if not even more important, than the whiskey itself. Some like purified water, some like harder water like Evian --I prefer Evian water to all other water, period, but I recall Ogallala Aquifer water out of the ground well in NE to be very similar. But tap water? ANY tap water?

This is just as true with beer, I've brewed identical recipes save the water and they turned out totally different (If/when I brew, I use distilled water and I add the salts/minerals needed to achieve and/or copy the appropriate water source). Water chemistry can be quite complex.

Any alcohol makes me sick anymore, can't even enjoy a beer really without paying for it. Shame, I enjoyed it. I really liked Jack and some of the Kentucky stuff until I got ahold of some REAL scotch. Now I like smoke, my favorite beer is a rauchbier (Schlenkerla motherfuckers!) so when I tried a really old scotch, I was hooked (50yo?). Balvenie I think, but could be wrong.

Woodford Reserve and Jefferson Ocean. You owe it to yourself to try a good Irish single pot whiskey. Red Breast 12,15 and my favorite Yellow Spot.

+1 Personally, I prefer corn whiskey (only because it can not be legally called a bourbon) that can not be bought from any store.

Apple > Corn. Not the apple flavored distilled sugar-water bullshit, but real apple.

Tastes differ, but anyone looking at Woodford may want to skip the double oaked and stick with the original. But I'd just assume have jack daniels with some ice, so take that in consideration as to what my opinion is worth.

Just a thought what about good water like Evian or purified as a ice cube it will slowly melt without watering it down to much adjust to size

Elijah Craig, Wellers Reserve, Blantons, Eagle Rare 10yr, Bookers are all worthy of your glass. The Craig is a little harsh and high octane and is sometimes not as consistent as the others but when you get a good batch it is the best of all. A drop of spring water will open it up. Vanilla, Rum buns, sweet, very oaky with a strong peppery finish typical of a good bourbon. Also Dalmore Highland Single Malt Scotch either the 12 or 18yr old. Smells like fruitcake and spice with dried raisins, plums and only gets better over time. Highland Park 12yr is an Orkaidian Highland Single Malt Scotch from the lands of some of my ancestors on the Orkney Islands. Slightly smokey, earthy, mossy, sweet tastes of dried fruits and tastes like "Home". There are others and there are many that cost more. Few which are better. I have a bottle of Highland Park's 2017 special batch called Valkyrie. It won the 2017 International Whiskey Championship with a score of 99/100. I have heard both good and meh about it but have not pulled the cork to try it yet.

Woodford Reserve Double oaked is hands down my favorite followed closely by Angles Envy. You owe it to yourself to try them both. Makers 46 is also fantastic. Double oaked is basically Woodford Reserve Distillers Select that is rebarreled into a brand new oak barrel for an additional 6 months , but only the most choice of barrels are taken from the rickhouse for double oaked. Makers 46 opens the barrel after aging and addes 6 toasted French oak staves to the barrel and moves to a temp controlled rickhouse to finish the bourbon. Also Russel's Reserve from Wild Turkey is pretty smooth on the cheaper end of the scale, all hand picked barrels by the old man at the factory Jimmy Russel. Most of all the smother bourbons are lower on rye and have higher corn and wheat percentages.

No, you must be looking at something else (you're talking about regular Angel's Envy, right?). It's priced similar to Woodford Reserve, or Eagle Rare, etc. Heck, my neighbor works for the distributor and gave me a bottle autographed by the distiller recently.

I'm much more of a rummy (Zacapa being my favorite so far) but as far as bourbon/sipping whiskey goes I'd vote for Blantons (try it on ice with a twist of lemon) or Jack D Single Barrel
