Rifle Scopes Burris 20-60x High Country Spotter

Has anyone used one of these? I'm looking for a spotter for range work out to 500 yds (for now) for $200 or less.
I read some customer reviews on these and people who bought them seem to like them for the price, but I'd like to get some more opinions if possible.

Save your money! I had one and it was a major piece of shit! I'm serious, it was horrible!! If you tried to go above 20x, you couldn't see anything! I sold it on egay cause I didn't want to even try to dump it on anyone on here! I have a Celestron now and it's a world better and was about the same price.

I'll check around for it. To you happen to know if the Burris Landmatk series is any better than the high country? SWFA has one on the sample list that comes with some extras for what seems like a good price.

When it comes to optics always buy the best you can afford. At 500 yds a $200.00 scope is not going to get the job done. You will be frustrated and disappointed especially when you have to use the higher magnification levels. Atmospheric conditions will place havoc. Save up and only buy once, instead of buying now throwing away $200 and than saving again for better optics. Two hundred dollars won't get you 500 yds.

Go to Cameraladny.com and check out the 20-60x80 Vortex special purchase spotter. I promise if you get one you will be more than happy! I have compared them right next to a Sworo and was way happy with my purchase of 200 bucks. Seriesly its probably the best buy I have ever seen or bought.

I checked out the Special Purchase. Looks like a good deal, but unfortunately they are out of stock. I am looking into other Vortex spotters, since most people seem pretty happy with them.

Very informative article. Thats pretty much what I was afraid of.
I agree that I should get the best I can afford, but I'm stretched a little thin at this time with a new rifle in the works that is going to need glass (this will be the best I can afford!), money seems to be going in many directions.
Just getting set up initially, there are so many things I need, if I buy the best of everything, its going to be a long time before I'm shooting.
I realize that the Burris isn't going to get the job done.
What do you think I can "get away with", being able to see .30 holes at 200-400 yds, for now? I'm sure I will be upgrading it in the near future, and will probably either sell it or donate it to a smallbore shooter who needs one.
Im just looking for something that will help me get up and shooting.
I'm open to suggestions.

I took your advice and got the Celestron Ultima 65. Amazon had it for $115 with free shipping. I got it yesterday, unpacked it and took it out in the yard to look through. I was plesantly surprised at how clear the glass was( for a $115 spotter.) On 55x the Eye relief was almost non existant, but still pretty clear.
Today I took it to the range for the first time. At 300 yds, I had no problem seeing my .30 hits on white paper targets.
At 400 yds they were a little harder to make out, mostly due to slight movement from a flimsy tripod. The shooter next to me was using Shoot-n-See targets, and I could see his hits much easier. All in all, I'm pretty impressed with this cheap spotter. I dont think it would have worked for me much beyond 400 yds, but for now it'll do what I need until I can upgrade.
I'm not saying that it could keep up with a much higher quality optic, but for those who can't, or choose not to spend a lot of money on a spotter, this must be one of the better options available, not to mention the lifetime "no fault" warranty.

Yeah it's a decent little scope for the money! I don't use a spotter all that much so I just didn't want to spend alot on one and the Celestron works for what I need it for!
