I spoke with the sales rep there about the XTR Pro as well. He said Burris was discontinuing the XTR Pro.
He also said the price they have on the website for the XTR Pro was as low as they could go.
That price is $1600 (+tax) for the red and black standard SCR2 and $1950 (+tax) for the red and black SCR 2 1/4 mil. Not sure why the 1/4 mil is $360 more? But the few other places I've seen that have the 1/4 mil in stock are also asking a premium for it over the standard SCR2.
The $1600 for black and red standard SCR2 is the cheapest I've been able to find that scope anywhere else right meow.
Besides Buds....and the prices seems to fluctuate. It's at $1445 (+tax) as of this writing.
I paid $1575 shipped for the black and black SCR2 1/4 mil. Based on my research and everyone's input, it seemed like a no brainer at that price. So I bought a couple.

Yea, it's not a hard scope to find right now, but it's not easy. And prices seem to have gone up quite a bit over the last 6-8 months. Beyond just the typical "prices are rising every where" thing.
It wasn't really the run around.
It was a very brief online chat.
I asked about adding another to the order so I didn't have to pay shipping twice. He said they couldn't. Also said the thing about the price possibly being wrong and refunding me. I said okay, thanks, and quickly ended the chat. And also quickly ordered another at the lower price. Whole interaction was probably less than 5 minutes.
Both orders went through and shipped. I agree, I think I got a good buy.
Hard to say, the XTR III has been out 5 years so it could be on the table for a refresh. As for the XTR Pro, I wonder if it's related to the Red perhaps not selling as well now that they have a black option. The Pro is only 2 years old so unless it has issues you wouldn't think it's slotted for an update.
Also while those might be todays "closeout" prices, even 6 months ago you could easily buy the XTR III for under $900 or Pro for around $1400 brand new. So if they are trying to move older stock, it's still likely a nicely profitable price.

Have the ATACR 7-35 and two Burris XTR Pro’s in hand. Along with the NX8 4-32 and 2.5-20 that I already had.
I already have time behind the ATACR AND NX8. I know I like them and believe them to be quality upper tier optics.
Haven’t had a chance to shoot the Burris yet other than just putting a couple rounds down range at the indoor gun club to make sure I’m on paper and check my setup. It’s a 1000° here right meow, so I use this time of year to get all my reloading and firearms projects done in the air conditioned shop. Probably won’t get to the outdoor range for another several weeks. That’s just to say at this point it’s just a cursory eval.
Both mine came with the throw lever, Burris branded Butler Creek scope caps, sunshade, and bubble level. I hadn’t seen anywhere else that others had gotten the bubble level. Maybe that’s a new edition? Maybe I just missed it?
At first blush, the Burris are in fact very nice optics. The eye box / eye relief is in fact yuge. Very easy and forgiving to set up. I’d concur with everyone else’s observations of the scope, i.e. build quality, turrets, etc. Zero stop setting is slick. The finish does scuff very easily. I don’t care. But if you do take note.
As mentioned I purchased the Black 1/4 MIL version from Buds, delivered for $1574. I find this to be a smoking deal for what appears to be a quality American made optic with the included accessories.
They are not on the same level of build quality as the Nightforce. But then again, that’s one thing Nightforce is known for and to be expected. The Burris are also a good deal less money.
On that note, I don’t think I’d pay the $1960+ that Eurooptics is asking for the red 1/4 MIL version of the pro. Not even sure I’d pay the $1599 they’re asking for the standard red SCR2 version? I’d have to think about it. It’s personal at this point, but I’d probably just get another NX8 4-32 in that case. There are probably better options in the $2000+ price range? In the $1500 price range not sure there is anything close? Also probably a great competition scope in the $1500-1900 price range? Again not sure anything else is close. Definitely has a place. I should probably withhold judgement till I actually shoot it. Just thinking out loud.
On the first scope I received the standard black turret cover does not appear to seat fully. Not sure if you can see it in the pictures or not? If you pull a little while turning, the dial will dislodge. The race dial seats fully. And on the second scope both dials seat properly.
Both Burris will be mounted in the Burris XTR Signature Rings. First one is mounted on the Savage Mark II FV-SR. The rings are little more challenging to get set up, but again, it’s a very cool concept. On this rifle the rings are on a 20 MOA EGW base. I used the base MOA, scope internal adjustment, and ballistic calculator, and came up with a guess that the 20 MOA ring inserts would get me close to having full internal adjustment available for elevation adjustments. Shot a couple at 25 yards and it appears once I zero at 50 I may be able to get the 5 MOA ring inserts in the back and get myself a little closer to having that full internal adjustment available. All that to say, yes, the rings are a little trial and error, and hence more work to set up, but on a firearm where you need that internal adjustment, they may be worth the effort.

Embarrassed to say I have not. I’ve been so busy lately just haven’t shot hardly at all this summer. Oh and it’s been hot as shit this summer on top of everything so haven’t been super motivated to go shoot. Did play with a couple new AR’s and my new custom 223 last week with nx8 2.5-20 and ATACR 7-35. Still love those. I actually ended up putting that other Burris XTR pro on my .308. At this point it’s probably gonna be October before I can shoot it. I promise I’ll report back asap as soon as I’ve got some shots down range.
PS. Not the final stock. That’s a loner from a buddy. It’s getting a manners PRS stock but it’s still under construction.
