I found out I prefer .2 rather than 1/4 mil.
I’ve been shooting the XTR Pro w/ SCR2 reticle for the better part of two years. I have one on my centerfire and one on my Vudoo and have been averaging 2-3 matches a month, plus a lot of dryfire. So it could be that’s what I’ve become accustomed to.
On my most recent build I went with a Leupold Mk5 w/ the PR2 reticle. I wanted to change it up a little, and I was eager to try out the 1/4mil reticle, plus I heard good things about the Leupy in general. I was also going for weight savings as this is the rifle I plan on shooting NRL Hunter with. In the last few weeks I put about 300 rnds thru the rifle w/ the Leupy, plus a shit ton of dry fire. I liked the scope, I really did. Glass was excellent, turrets nice and crisp, I like the way the elevation turret is laid out, and everything tracked well, but the PR2 reticle took some getting used to. My main complaint was at mid-magnification the 1/4 and 3/4 hash marks are pretty small.
Lastly, every time I went back to my other rifles that had the Pro’s SCR2 in .2mil reticle, I instantly felt like I was back home in my comfort zone.
I ended up trading the Mk5 to a buddy who had a Pro and we’re both much happier now. Rifle with the Leupy was 14.4 lbs, with the XTR I’m at 14.8 lbs, so well under the NRL limit.
So now I have three XTR Pros. @Birddog6426, I blame you, LOL.
