So there's now an illuminated 18x version, but not a pro version?Based on what I've heard so far, I dont think so. The 18x illuminated XTR3 is still in production for that magnification range.
If this line up is expanded I would expect it to go higher magnification, not lower.
Yes, the XTR3 is still in production in illuminated versions. So there's now an illuminated 18x version, but not a pro version?
Maybe I've missed it, but can you say what the reticle line thickness is in the illuminated 18x version?Yes, the XTR3 is still in production in illuminated versions.
The folks in Greeley are telling us MAP pricing is actually going lower than what it was on the Comp version on those optics.
I don't know for sure. The folks I talked to don't work in those figures. They were talking microns adjustment in the laser etching.Maybe I've missed it, but can you say what the reticle line thickness is in the illuminated 18x version?
Hoping for 0.045 mil(ish).
Music to my ears, been waiting a long time for this (too long).Yes, the XTR3 is still in production in illuminated versions.
This is surprising, especially considering most other manufacturers have all had to raise their prices past couple years due to, well, the cost of everything on the rise. If I buy the new Burris I can buy a few extra loaves of bread to feed the family - this should be a new marketing sloganThe folks in Greeley are telling us MAP pricing is actually going lower than what it was on the Comp version on those optics.
No Instagram but this optic looks like a home run. I like the featuresWaiting on instragram live stream
For the price and features, it certainly seems like a winner.I think Burris is going to sell a lot of these...
Is it safe to say the optical formula stayed the same as the XTR III except for the glass upgrade? If that is the case then I'd expect specs to be very close to the XTR III 5.5-30.Live is over. Time to spill the beans on it guys.
I personally prefer reticles that air on the thin side pretty much universally.I get how frustrating that must have been.. The only scope I ever broke in competition was a MK8 CQBSS 1-8. Came in a little fast on a dump box in a 3 gun match and it busted the pinch to move locking turrets. I had to hold under the rest of the day and swap it out for day 2.
I heard the same thing. I think that's solid info.
Other scopes are going up in price, the XTR3 is coming down.
The SCR is a good hunting reticle. I've used it for 8 years now on hunting rifles.
Its .035 mils thick.
I went to the Burris instagram page then clicked on their profile pic, if that helps for future live streams.Shit I was instagram and can’t find the video. I don’t know how to work this social media crap.
A replay is posted to their Instagram feed now.Shit, I was on instagram and can’t find the video. I don’t know how to work this social media crap.
Any comparison to the Razor G3?XTR Pro is optically better than XTR III. Side by side, the difference was noticeable.
Mind you, I have only seen the prototype, so take that for what it is
The red color does not do anything for me, but I am sure I will be able to paint that over with something.

Quality companies were doing it first though. Warne Skel mounts, Odin Works, Seekins Precision, and JP Rifles rolled out some of the first cool color anodized AR parts. The anodized red reminds me of cheap Chinese AR parts for the budget gucci AR builder. Why oh why.
I'll still buy one lol.
I do not have a full production version yet.Any comparison to the Razor G3?
Ilya is a much better judge than me, and I'm excited to hear his thoughts after he reviews a production model.. but I can also definitely see the difference in my production model XTR PRO versus my XTR3.XTR Pro is optically better than XTR III. Side by side, the difference was noticeable.

I can divulge a little.Live said in the coming next couple of weeks on the pros. No mention of a regular XTR 3 illuminated
I can divulge a little.
The new XTRIII will be called the XTR3i.
Official launch is January 27th. So stay tuned!
Is there a glass quality change between the old XTR3 and the new XTR3i?I can divulge a little.

We are keeping all the same components and sourcing the same glass. We added illumination, and amazingly enough, are dropping the price. Is there a glass quality change between the old XTR3 and the new XTR3i?
Thanks. That means I don't need to worry about grabbing a new one right away.We are keeping all the same components and sourcing the same glass. We added illumination, and amazingly enough, are dropping the price.
Edit; I should add, thats all I know at this point. There may be more to it that I havent heard yet.
I can only assume so. I havent heard for sure. But it would make sense to just use one illumination system. Will the XTR3i’s illumination also offer the red/green option like the Pro?

Me too...Ilya is a much better judge than me, and I'm excited to hear his thoughts after he reviews a production model..
I have to say, the XTR III really impressed me glass wise, it easily beat anything on the market at that price point back in 2018, I thought the glass was better in the 3.3-18 than the Mark 5 from Leuppy and while the NF NX8 had better center resolution and control of CA, the optical distortion at the edges in the 2.5-20, finicky parallax and shallow DOF I just couldn't stomach.but I can also definitely see the difference in my production model XTR PRO versus my XTR3.
I've heard some numbers, but they were speculative. If they come in around that price when they roll out, they will be a phenomenally good value. Can you divulge the price of the XTR3i?
Your review three years ago has stood the test of time. It all proved to be accurate information over the life cycle of the Comp XTRIII.Me too...

So for me, glass was never an issue with the XTR III, it was always the lack of illumination, so I welcome the XTR3i for sure. Burris changing up their tooling to only offer illumination was a moved to save on cost (I assume) and the fact they've had the tooling since the 2018 release of the XTR3 means they can also offer the illuminated version at a lower price point than the current non-illuminated models, well that was unexpected - great move on Burris' part.
I'm planning on it. 2022 is getting off to a good start with the XTR Pro and the Vortex G3 announcement. I'd love to get more into rimfire (much cheaper to shoot haha) so maybe more opportunity for these scopes for sure!Hopefully at some point you'll get your hands on one of the new ones and let us know what you think.
