Here we go!!
I've lost time by accidentally locking my turret on the last dial and then wondering what's happened? Why I can't turn my turret to the next target? I hate locking turrets. They are the worstThis does not.
And I can't speak to Burris' opinion on this matter, so this is strictly IMHO, but locking elevation turrets are a cure for a problem that never existed.
You should always check your dope on an exposed turret before taking a shot, any shot. And Lord knows I've certainly forgotten to dial on a stage or two. I'm preaching to myself
Having said that, I dont know anyone who missed a shot in hunting or competition from a bumped elevation turret.
Once burnt twice shy, until the legit release I'm staying skeptical.
Capped windage and exposed elevation is definitely the way to go.I've lost time by accidentally locking my turret on the last dial and then wondering what's happened? Why I can't turn my turret to the next target? I hate locking turrets. They are the worst
I 95% agree but would prefer a thicker non illuminated reticle than a super thin one with illumination.I need it illuminated. I got bit on a hunt with a NF ATACR 5-25 that didn't have illumination on a trophy whitetail in KY. Swore I'd never hunt again without illumination. I could see the deer, but couldn't see the reticle.
Absolutely. My biggest complaint is not a heavy enough reticle for hunting. Burris needs to step up on that one because nobody else will. A mil-quad is close, just needs a little thickening where it matters. If you hunt woods to open 600 yard fields you know what I’m talking about.I 95% agree but would prefer a thicker non illuminated reticle than a super thin one with illumination.
I find a thicker reticle (on the 3.3-18 atleast) will be useful more often than illumination is.
But agree in those times when you need illumination, you need illumination.
.05mil wouldn't be too thick and well usable on 3.3xThat 3-18 needs a reticle that’s .04 to .05 mils thick IMO.
Thanks for the feedback fellas. I'll be sure to reach out after Shot and see if I can narrow down the list of retailers who managed to get their hands on some.
It's $500 over the original price of the Gen II and almost a decade later I'm not really sure where the disconnect is other than people thinking Vortex's high end products have some astronomical failure rate, and that as a company they shouldn't even look at the high end market, which is becoming a fad at this point it seems. I digress though.I couldn't help myself...
But seriously, assuming the new XTR III is a 6-36, the G3 Razor's price feels out of place. With Burris and Bushnell's offerings, I'm surprised they launched it at such a high price point.
Will there be a pro version of the 3.3-18?Yes, that's fairly accurate. Its 5.5-30×56. Still made in Colorado using the same tube as the XTRIII, but it starts getting better from there.
The glass is upgraded, 3 reticle options, toollless zero, red or green illumination, quick swap turrets, low $2k MAP.
So there's now an illuminated 18x version, but not a pro version?Based on what I've heard so far, I dont think so. The 18x illuminated XTR3 is still in production for that magnification range.
If this line up is expanded I would expect it to go higher magnification, not lower.
Maybe I've missed it, but can you say what the reticle line thickness is in the illuminated 18x version?Yes, the XTR3 is still in production in illuminated versions.
The folks in Greeley are telling us MAP pricing is actually going lower than what it was on the Comp version on those optics.
Music to my ears, been waiting a long time for this (too long).Yes, the XTR3 is still in production in illuminated versions.
This is surprising, especially considering most other manufacturers have all had to raise their prices past couple years due to, well, the cost of everything on the rise. If I buy the new Burris I can buy a few extra loaves of bread to feed the family - this should be a new marketing sloganThe folks in Greeley are telling us MAP pricing is actually going lower than what it was on the Comp version on those optics.
No Instagram but this optic looks like a home run. I like the featuresWaiting on instragram live stream
For the price and features, it certainly seems like a winner.I think Burris is going to sell a lot of these...
Is it safe to say the optical formula stayed the same as the XTR III except for the glass upgrade? If that is the case then I'd expect specs to be very close to the XTR III 5.5-30.Live is over. Time to spill the beans on it guys.
I personally prefer reticles that air on the thin side pretty much universally.I get how frustrating that must have been.. The only scope I ever broke in competition was a MK8 CQBSS 1-8. Came in a little fast on a dump box in a 3 gun match and it busted the pinch to move locking turrets. I had to hold under the rest of the day and swap it out for day 2.
I heard the same thing. I think that's solid info.
Other scopes are going up in price, the XTR3 is coming down.
The SCR is a good hunting reticle. I've used it for 8 years now on hunting rifles.
Its .035 mils thick.
I went to the Burris instagram page then clicked on their profile pic, if that helps for future live streams.Shit I was instagram and can’t find the video. I don’t know how to work this social media crap.
A replay is posted to their Instagram feed now.Shit, I was on instagram and can’t find the video. I don’t know how to work this social media crap.
