Rifle Scopes Bushnell 3-12 Mil dot reticle question?

Re: Bushnell 3-12 Mil dot reticle question?

XTR, specifically which 3-12 do you have? I'm at a loss when you say "lines". I have a Bushnell 3-12x44 Elite 4200 which has a standard Mil-Dot (1 mil/dot) reticle, with .1 mil divisions on the turrets.

For the definitive answer, go to Bushnell.com, then click on "Resources" on the drop down tool bar. Select "Instruction Manuals", then "Riflescopes", then select your specific scope. Documentation is in pdf.

Re: Bushnell 3-12 Mil dot reticle question?

That's what I'm looking for. I've got a 3-12 FFP Bushnell, trying to mil smaller demins with the reticle is hard if you don't know what the various lines subtend. I guess I need to make up an accurate chart and take it to the range.

The thought occurred to me last week at the range. I was shooting at 200 yds and and placed a shot a dot diameter above my point of aim. Yea, it's w/i the accuracy of the rifle, but I started to wonder just how far off is that?

If I'm doing a holdover that's supposed to be 1.9 mils do I shoot the top of the dot? If you're trying to range with the reticle you use the smaller dims to divide up the target.

Look at any Nightforce or other high end reticle and you'll have every measurement in the glass spelled out. On a NF and Vortex mil-dot reticles the dots are .25 mil. Not that it matters that much but I'm wondering if the Bushnell is .2 or .25 or .3 even?

Re: Bushnell 3-12 Mil dot reticle question?

I've tried to google everything I could think of that would bring up the information you're looking for and came up with nothing. It's ridiculous. I would try getting a hold of the company before going through the trouble of making a chart and all. You would think this information would be readily available...

Re: Bushnell 3-12 Mil dot reticle question?

Dots should be .2 but there can be slight mfg differences. We did a series of to-scale targets specifically for verifying MIL and MOA based reticles. We had a student discover a 7% error in his reticle doing this test, and leupold replaced the reticle for free. Mark
