When my SS gets here, which should be any day since i should have been in the 1st batch for ordering... i'll let ya guys know.

yeah - so far i dig my hdmr. It's on my POF and it's fun to shoot with. I can't say i've used the reticle to it's potential and probably never will... maybe shooting a coyote or running deer

maybe... but the price was right and i was in need of an optic for my POF 308.

Same here. I don t have time on top end optics, and will probably never buy one due to cost. 1000-1500 tops probably for me. For the price, you couldn't beat this thing in my opinion.

And I really do like the reticle.

I can’t wait to see the comparison with the SS 5-20, but I am going with the SS 5-20 regardless most likely. $1599 is just too much more than $1000 although like many Bushnell’s maybe it will actuality retail for much less, but since its going to be sold by Horus maybe not. If I was active military and could get one half at price I would jump on it.

She also said that the reticle was non-illuminated irrespective of whether it was the H58 or H59.

Interesting.

That's msrp though. Might be lower. Maybe closer to 1299? who knows.

Either way, apparently I stole it for what I paid for it, and every other military personnel.

Horus needed to move the product, so they offered it at $849. Horus made a change during production to the H-59 reticle, unfortunately(or fortunately for some) there were 200 pieces already made with the H-58 installed. Instead of going commercial with a product that would be obsoleted in 3 months they offered them on a special promotion.
The two differences between the H58 and H59 are:

1. H59 REPLACES THE HEAVY CROSSHAIR BY BROKEN LINE WITH A CENTRAL DOT.
2. H59 HORIZONTAL RETICLE PATTERN EXTENDED 1 MIL ON EACH SIDE.

I was seriously anticipating the release on these until SS made the group buy offer on their new model.
