Just finished uploading this last night.

This scope is a good option for the tactical shooter who can't afford a NXS, USO or Razor.

I will have Part 2 done later this week.

Re: Bushnell Elite Tactical 6-24x50 Video Review

John, i am surprised it burned up 12mils , zeroing the rifle ?
not much left after zeroing , even with a 20 moa base, at approx, 3.5 moa per mil, thats another 5 mils or so, and seems way low for such a high powered optic

darn shame, for extended range

Total elevation was 19, so it should have zeroed on a flat base with 9.5 mils of "up" elevation. When you look at it that way I only used up 2.5 mils to zero it out.

I do wish it had more elevation, but I wish it had zero stops and locking turrets too. I have come to realize at some point I have to stop wishing and be grateful for how many features we do have in the current crop of rifle scopes.

A 20 MOA base or mount would give me another 5.5 mils of elevation for a total of 13.5. Here at almost sea level on an average day that would put me just past 1K with a 2600fps 175SMK. My AI and AR10 are the only rifles I have that done run some type of incline.

If anyone else has one of these scopes I would love to here what your total elevation travel is. I am restricted to a total sample of one, so from time to time it is possible for me to get one with an issue or two.

Overall I have been very satisfied with this scope. My wife's 4200 6-24x shows the same level of quality. However she would kick the crap out of me if I threw her rifle on the ground.

Re: Bushnell Elite Tactical 6-24x50 Video Review

John , great review, not trying to throw off on you , let me be clear there;

but it is what it is - and per your review at 100 yds on a '0' moa base it had 7 mils remaining of up elevation; thats unacceptable -you even made the comment that would get your rifle/load out to 700 yds, that is at least 100 yds short of effective range , conservatively, more like 300 yds short for alot of shooters that would consider that optic

bushnell not the only brand that makes this mistake -

6-24 variable power range , and not enough usable elevation is a damn shame -

it sucks , but bushnell needs to hear it

How's the eyebox on your 6-24? I have a 3-12x44 that is a great value. The only problem is the eyebox is too tight for me.

More elevation,10 mil knobs, modern reticle and bushnell would have the best medium priced scope around.

Thanks for the review.

Re: Bushnell Elite Tactical 6-24x50 Video Review

I have a 6-24x50 Elite 4200 Tactical on a built 7mm-08, with mine being a 2nd focal plane and 1/4" clicks. Mine is on a 20 MOA Weaver Tactical base, and with 162s at a 100 yard zero, I still have 2 3/4 revolutions until I hit my elevation stop. I am not sure how this translates into total up (in terms of MOA), but I should have plenty to get past 1k yards. I have less than 1 revolution of "down" adjustment, so it looks like the 20 MOA base lets me up with just about all the elevation I would need on the range.

As far as my review on the 6-24x, I have been very happy with it. Glass is great, and the turrets have a very solid feel. The only thing I don't like is the fact the hash marks on the turrets don't line up exactly with the mark on the housing. I understand its a common issue with splined turrets, and I may be nitpicking, but I would prefer they lined up.

The eye box is acceptable to me, however I didn't have a problem with the Razor HD before they redesigned it. I don't have any way to accurately measure it and building a rig to do so would be too time consuming.

Re: Bushnell Elite Tactical 6-24x50 Video Review

LoneWolfUSMC, by any chance have you donr any testing of the SWFA SS 5-20x50 Tactical scope yet? I dont recall seing any of your videos on that one.

Re: Bushnell Elite Tactical 6-24x50 Video Review

I have not tested that scope yet. If we can get SWFA to send us one, I would be more than happy to review it.

Reliability Testing in Part 2 is now up:

Re: Bushnell Elite Tactical 6-24x50 Video Review

Just watched part 1, very good vid John, thanks a bunch. I just bought this exact scope this past summer and had it mounted on my Savage 10FCP (also just bough this past summer). I have a 20MOA base for it. I've yet to take it my new outfit to the range, but I'm looking forward to it next spring here at Peacemaker National in WV. They have a 1000 yard electronic sighting system so I'll get there eventually in distance I hope.

Thanks again for posting. I'm going to look at part 2 now..

Re: Bushnell Elite Tactical 6-24x50 Video Review

Thanks again for the great review. I just placed an order today to give one a try. Been tossing it around for a bit, and took the plunge this afternoon. Hope it's a nice piece.

Yes. I was so excited after the dunk that I forgot to turn it off. It sat in the freezer with the illum on and ran the battery dead. I replaced the battery and it functioned fine.

That's awesome and good to know! I can't wait to get mine to the range with my Savage in the spring now. Thanks again.

Re: Bushnell Elite Tactical 6-24x50 Video Review

Thanks for the review and the videos!

Just for comparison's sake with the Elite Tactical, I have the previous generation Elite 4200 Tactical 6-24x50 FFP mil/mil and it has 13.0 mil total adjustment...but with a Weaver 20 MOA base I only have 7 mil up from 100yd zero.

Its kind of a moot point for me because 7 mils gets my load to 900yds and I only have 600yd available to shoot right now...but still disappointing.

Re: Bushnell Elite Tactical 6-24x50 Video Review

Well, mine showed up this morning!! Can't wait to get it mounted and try it out. I already have a 4.5-30x50 Elite Tactical 6500 on another rifle that I like alot, other than the fact that the turrets don't match the reticle. The 6-24x50 Elite's ffp and matching turrets finalized the deal for me. In my opinion these scopes are hard to beat for the price.
