Re: Bushnell Excursion Spotting Scope Video

Been infatuated with these since they came out. May I only suggest a 'walk around' the scope so we the viewers can get a little more of an idea of scale and somewhat of a better tactile (not tactical) sense than still images offer.

From what I can tell, theyre a lot smaller than I previously imagined.

Re: Bushnell Excursion Spotting Scope Video

I have had one of these for about 4 months now and use it every week at the range. I terms of optical quality, it is not a Leupold, or any other $1,200+ spotting scope, but it certainly does the job that I want it to do out to 900+ yards and at about 1/3 the price of the others I considered briefly.

I am pretty sure I must have "sold" about 4 or 5 of them in the last few months by just loaning it to people to try for an hour. Mike, I will send them your way from now on...

Re: Bushnell Excursion Spotting Scope Video

Thanks for doing these videos, they are all very helpful and informative. They also do a good job of making me want to purchase items I had not even considered.

Re: Bushnell Excursion Spotting Scope Video

Thanks for the vid Mike, I was actually just at your site considering purchasing one of these in the near future.

Are spotting scopes a "problem" to send outside of the states, especially this one due to its reticle?

Re: Bushnell Excursion Spotting Scope Video

    Just an FYI

The Butler Creek #63 objective cover fits nice and snug on the objective.

Just took delivery on a Butler Creek #16 eye cover to test out tonight on the eye piece.

Re: Bushnell Excursion Spotting Scope Video

I watched the video and Mike stated that the tripod was the weak link. Which tripod is good for this spotter?? Does anyone have a favorite? Just curious....

Re: Bushnell Excursion Spotting Scope Video

Ordered one last week and got it in yesterday. Gotta say that it's about the best value for the money that I've seen so far.

Re: Bushnell Excursion Spotting Scope Video

Just called our Bushnell rep. He said the new Excursions were supposed to be out 2-3 months ago. They got the etched glass in and it wasn't up to the standard they were looking for. Current ETA is that Bushnell will be shipping out by May 31st hopefully.

CKA took some pics of the new Excursion 1 Mil line reticle here:

    Thanks,

Re: Bushnell Excursion Spotting Scope Video

so that shitty 1 mil reticle is all that is available now? If I read that reticle correctly, if I am to range something and it does not measure 1 mil exactly, I'll be 100% guessing?

Seems they should have kept the mil-dots.

Re: Bushnell Excursion Spotting Scope Video

Well, I found a deal too good to pass up. I have one on order. We'll see how this turns out. Fortunately, I got it for a low enough price, I can relegate it to a loaner or back-up if need be. I'll still be buying a higher end ($1k+ ) spotter at some point, but until I figure out which one, this will hopefully work for me. I'll toss out my input when I have it in my hands.

Unfortunately, no. It won't be released until the 3rd week in July, 2011. We're all anxiously awaiting it's arrival!

That was one of the older Mil Dot reticle ones (they mislabeled the ad, the box says mil dot).

Re: Bushnell Excursion Spotting Scope Video

I spoke with several people from Bushnell last week, they are not certain when they will be available. There are some problems at the factory and the date has moved from mid july to mid september. Even then they are not certain that they will be availabe.

DAMN! I would have been interested in buying it if I had caught that! I prefer the uncluttered field of the dots by a huge margin.

Oh, well, not knowing where in the production period it was manufactured it might be one of those that had problems. (I'll keep telling myself that)

Re: Bushnell Excursion Spotting Scope Video

It is now August and still no one seems to know with any certainty the arrival dates of this cheap but reasonable quality spotter -that sux! their media department should be given the rotan

Re: Bushnell Excursion Spotting Scope Video

Yessir, I have been trying to locate/buy one of these over the last couple weeks. NONE to be had. Now like ALL GUN STUFF, LOTS of SELLERS out there that will be more than happy to blow smoke up your ass about their latest "Vaporware" coming ANY DAY NOW, just go ahead and PAY us for it, then shut-up and WAIT until the 12th of Never and you'll get one.(Maybe)or (Maybe NOT)

    ***NEW UPDATE 8/11/11***

    Gentlemen,

I have a NEW update regarding the status of the release of the new Bushnell Excursion FLP Spotter (#781570ED). This is <span style="text-decoration: underline">not</span> based on assumption, innuendo, or rumor. It comes from an upper level Regional Manager with Bushnell who I trust as honest & forthright.

Here is the email I received from him yesterday afternoon:

    <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">
    Ceylon,
I wanted to give you a quick update on the spotting scopes. We are
expecting samples to arrive the last week of this month. If they pass
QA, we should have them ready to ship a couple of weeks after that. I
hope! I will keep you updated as I get more information. Thanks for your
    patience.
<span style="font-style: italic">NOTE: I have edited out his contact info for obvious reasons</span></div></div>

So, this is where we are now. I am hopeful that the revised version will pass their Quality Assurance group with no issues and that I can start shipping these spotters within the time frame he mentioned. I have asked him to keep me in the loop as news develops, which he promised to do so.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me via PM, email or phone (901)334-6808. I want to thank each & every one of you for your patience & understanding with this Group Buy. This is NOT how I anticipated it coming off but I am working hard with Bushnell to stay informed. Lord willing, your wait won't be much longer!

    Thanks again.

Re: Bushnell Excursion Spotting Scope Video

My brother has one, I don't know how the new ones differ from his, but his is a pretty awesome product for something like $400.

I think he bought it in a Snipershide group buy also.

It looks and feels like the Leupold that is way too pricey for me to want to buy, but that I used in the military. Leupold has a good product - it's too bad they just don't have a good price.

Bushnell has shelved the entire project. There is a slight chance that the Excursion FLP spotter could be resurrected at a later date but, for the time being, the manufacturer of the spotter has been canceled & removed from their catalog.

It is a LONG story as to what happened here, and Bushnell isn't really saying WHY they canceled the release of the new Excursion FLP. Bottom line, I wouldn't expect to see this item anytime soon...

Re: Bushnell Excursion Spotting Scope Video

Just got an email from SWFA that it has been D/C by Bushnell as I had one on order since November. Does any one have any recommendations for a similar price point with Mildot?

Re: Bushnell Excursion Spotting Scope Video

I returned one on 7-21-2011 because the reticle had badly spotted the lenses. I asked for a replacment and have still to here from them. I'll wait until they put out another product that I'm interested in and ask for a credit towards it. Until then, I'll just make due with my Razor.

Re: Bushnell Excursion Spotting Scope Video

I spoke with some of Bushnell's management during SHOT at length regarding the Excursion FLP (both the new & old models). As much as I hate to say it, there are NO PLANS AT THIS TIME for it's availability in 2012. The project has been cancelled and they aren't going to resurrect the old model. So, this spotter, in ANY capacity, is a no-go for 2012...

    I will say this...

Bushnell was VERY torn when it came to discontinuing the spotter. I could sense the frustration in both the gentlemen I spoke with, as they were commited to the new Excursion coming to market. But, in the end, they couldn't justify releasing it due to reservations is the construction & performance. They used an outside overseas vendor for its production and the spotters that were evaluated prior to them hitting the shelves just weren't up to the specs Bushnell required.

Finally, I really tried to hammer the fact that we NEED a spotter with the Excursion's features, specs, and PRICE POINT on the market right now. They understand that there is an underserved market for such a spotter and indicated an interest in bringing the project back if they can guarantee a quality product.

Hope this brings some clarity & closure to the Excursion FLP.
