Rifle Scopes Butler Creeks for NF 5.5-22x50

My new NF 5.5-22x50 arrived on Tuesday. Ran it upto my local Cabelas to get some scope caps The #18 worked great for the ocular lens. Can't say the same about the #44 for the Objective lens. Seemed to work fine at the store. Got it home and once I put it on, it keeps popping open. Even when I took the cap off it won't stay closed; almost as if it's sprung.

Any suggestions?

Maybe it's a bad cap. The BC caps don't very well on the NF scopes but they do fit with a little playing around with how far you slide them on. I don't push mine on all the way.

I haven't found any that really fit the objective lens good, I have taken some sandpaper and hit the inside a bit, then wiped all the grit out which made it moocho better.

Good idea Cigar. Never thought about it. Might try it on mine

I ordered # 43 for the same exact scope and they fit fine. I think you may have went one size too big.

At first, mine wouldn't open when I pressed the red button; pretty much the opposite of your problem. I took a very very small dab of congealed liquid soap and wiped it on the inside of the scope cap. After that, the lid opened and closed without hassle. These caps take a bit of monkeying around with in order to get them to work as intended.

Butler Creek caps are not what they used to be. The last 10 or so #43s I and a few friends bought for our NXSs, would either not go on the scope or if they did go on the cap wouldnt stay shut. Like someone else posted. They would close like they should if the cap was halfway on the scope.

I heated my caps up with a hair dryer till they went on fairly easy. They now work as they should.
