Rich will get even richer than 2008 GFC. More liberties/freedoms lost. More control over the sheeple. World financial bubble bursts due to unsustainable debt, which means that if everyone handed over every single cent they have to pay off national debt there still wouldn't be enough to pay it off. I was talking to one of my relatives in Australia that had just traveled a fair ways out of the big city to a smaller town way out in the bush to visit a sick relative in the hospital.
Apparently the local stores have plenty of supplies but are checking IDs and refusing to sell to people from the big cities and saving all their stock for locals. I guess a bunch of city folks started driving out to try to buy the small towns out of food and the locals decided to tell the city folks to go F..K Off, you don't like us and are always looking down on us... well get back to the city and enjoy your shortages you filthy city dwellers.
My relative was able to buy stuff as normal since she had paperwork showing she was there visiting a sick local relative and was born / grew up there, so they said close enough, you can buy stuff..... Including Toilet Paper!

I patrol a major tourist area in the eastern Sierra of California. All the ski resorts are closed, yet the turnout yesterday was crazy. Literally looked like June/July up there. Cali has a shelter in place order, but we aren’t enforcing it, and none of my people seem to relish the idea of enforcing it, or even how we would go about it. Anyway the people seem pretty happy. Stopped by a Raleys on the way home last night. First time in about a month. Looked remarkably normal, nothing like what I was expecting. They were stacked with fresh stuff as well.

Everything here normal, save the restaurants. Lots of Ga people here shopping to stock their lake vacation places. Nothing anything like I'm reading in the big liberal shitholes. Everyone has been very polite, then again most around here have always carried, but now even the ones that only kept in in their ride have one on them with the one that was in the car now one them being replaced with much more firepower. The real effects of this thing will be economic and political. Not really sure how long the economy will be down because it is being controlled by the statistics. In the short term, it is likely that there will be more aggressive measures taken to keep the virus from spreading quickly. Whether these measures are needed or opportunistic is unknown to me. I see people doing a good job policing themselves and am not sure forced quarantine like in China is necessary or would cause more damage than benefit if implemented here. The long term damage is hard to understand because no one knows how much the government will "help" or what measures will be put in place to stimulate a recovery.
Will this hurt or benefit Trump...I can't see this benefiting Trump. The media and Biden will paint this to be a failure and John Q Public who has nothing to do now but watch the MSM could be brainwashed into believing it. It is like a domino train....working man aside...I am friends with a lot of small business owners of many types including tradesmen, restaurants and taverns, etc. They are really hurting and they have to pay for tools, buildings, etc. Even professional people are worried about the eventual layoffs that will occur, especially since they have been watching their retirement accounts get depleted

I think the virus is just a chapter in a larger story. That isn't to say I'm dismissing the virus as inconsequential or "just the flu". The actual story is where does humanity as a whole go from here?
The virus is like a big wave hitting an elaborate sand castle constructed on the beach. The sand castle was already falling apart, albeit slowly enough that many of children playing around it never considered it anything but permanent. Those who could see the sand castle for what it was knew it would eventual collapse or be washed away; but perhaps given how large it is the structure could last a long time. Now that at it got hit by the wave, even if it survives the initial blow, the time line for its likely continued existence has been reduced greatly, and even the children are recognizing that reality. The sand castle is obviously the world financial/economic system, but also by extension the political and social systems in which we live.
So behind the scenes there is almost certainly a desperate attempt to delay the collapse of the sand castle, to kick the can just a little further. Or failing savior and delay, blaming the whole collapse on the virus, which was in reality no more than an accelerant. The end game is the shaping of the new system and utilizing the crisis to guide people to the shaper's desired end. Primarily I suspect a battle between those who want centralized control in a totalitarian system and those who want self determination for localized people and individual liberty.
Hopefully this will be a wake up call.
My father was 87 when he passed away a few years ago.
He often said bad stuff was ahead because we didn't make stuff here
He also constantly bitched about there not being enough skilled people left.
How our country's leaders sold our country's soul for a few bucks.
Bottom line, if we were ever to get into another war like WWII we would lose.
For one we don't have the manufacturing capacity like we did before the 70's.
It would take us YEARS to spool up our manufacturing engine, time that we don't have today or tomorrow.
