Just heard they were allowing F Class shooters to shoot next year along with the longrange championships. Can anyone confirm?

I'll be interested to see how the bondage guys at the club feel about that. I know of at least one and maybe more who have been shooting HP only because there is no F-Class at Perry.

I completely agree about High Power/F-Class shooters sticking together. I get tired of the back and forth about which is better. F-Class is a part of High Power and wouldn't even be around without it. I shoot right beside the High Power shooters at all of my matches and have never had an issue with anyone. It's the internet.

I shoot a bolt .223 in F-TR. I shoot a match AR when I shoot XTC (when I shoot). I don't make fun of either group. Well.....maybe the F-TR .308 shooters just a little.

This question is directed only because of my past exp. with NRA HP shooting. Would it be advantageous to be a classified shooter for this match? Or is this a one class match? i.e. sharpshooter, master, high master etc. or you shoot open or ft/r and that is that?

This is very welcome news. Like jetmd, I am curious at how shooters will be squadded. Any chance that the program would allow a shooter to participate in both f-class and HP sling matches? If so that would make a great but totally exhausting week!

I don't believe I "slagged" anyone. The "Bondage shooters" comment? I've watched them suit up and nearly pass out from heat exhaustion at the end of the 3rd match this summer. My match director was in the club house hugging a 10 pound bag of ice at the end of a match this yr. So yea, I flick them a little shit from time to time, but I shoot side by side with slingers. I thought that was pretty harmless.
I shoot at ORSA, we have a really organized HP group and they spend all spring/summer getting ready for Perry. Look at our shooting calendar, there is "Perry Practice" on it every week, and I hear it every week. Like I said above I saw at least one guy switch from F-TR to slings earlier this year trying to get rated in time for Perry. For a lot of the guys here Perry is the only trip they do every yr, so I'm betting that if they let us shoot F class that I'll see some of them switch. There was nothing there that was slagging anyone, X is the thin skinned one that escalated it to shit slinging.

This forum appeared w/i a week of the time I sent Frank a PM asking for an F class forum to get us out of the Tactical Competition forums, though I doubt that I was the only one I took it upon myself to populate it with some threads to get some useful information out there for new shooters, <span style="font-weight: bold">and </span>get some info for myself since almost everyone here shoots HP. Take a look at those threads I started in the first weeks, Loads, barrels, bullets, hello, I half expected them to get stickied in here. I started them hoping to put up a decent library of information for F class shooters (stickeys still wouldn't be a bad idea).
As for the smartass "standing on your feet" comment from X, I just picked up a White Oak Precision upper to build an AR for service rifle next year. I'm sure that with my 51yo lasic corrected eyes I'll suck but I'm doing it for fun. So kiss my ass. [edit] <span style="font-style: italic">Oh yea, and one more thing. Tell you what, I suck, my personal best from 1000 is about 186 but I'll spot you 20 points if you'll shoot standing on your feet with no supports other than your sling from 1000 yds against my pod and rest, and you can use the HP 1000 yd target. Pretty simple to figure out. It could be as easy as F'ers shoot odd number targets and Slingers shoot even. (I am just speculating)

The way we do it is the slingers shoot below 12 or so and the Fer's as we are affectionately called shoot 12 or so up.

One local range puts sling at one end, F at the other, with two or three points between the two groups. The segregation is bad enough at times that we basically have to have two sets of radios to the pits, as F-Class pretty much has to call for our own marks, etc.
Another range not far away up in BC goes the opposite route - they do forced integration - one target is TR, next target is F-class, next target is TR, next target F-class. There maybe isn't as much hob-nobbing and chit-chat between the groups, but it works out pretty smoothly. They also throw in moving over two firing points every yard line i.e. if you start on target 8 at one yardage, the next yardline you're on target 10, then you end up on target 12 for the last relay. People get rotated around between relays and firing points over the match so that no one gets the good conditions *all* the time
There's probably...50-60+ competitors, two range officers, paid target service... it works pretty much like clock-work. Then again, they've had a few years practice at running said event

At sac valley we all shoot together at every match.The palma usually have match high score even out to 1K.

It would be nice to know the course of fire, or am I to understand that f-class will be included in all the long range HP matches.

XTR, You see its not harmless and always ends in one up on each side. You just did it again. Some of us who have been shooting for awhile have been working on fixing some of the problems between the groups we dont need opposite direction help.
As to this forum, well some of us have been around awhile and while I am glad Frank added this sub forum I dont feel like your owed a cookie. Remember one Oh Shit equals ten great things.

concur with DGosnell, we just make sure that whomever is responsible for posting a new target gets the right one up. I've never seen it happen where a target switch benefitted a f-class shooter. But, the HP shooter that didn't notice he was shooting an F-class target was... frustrated.

This is great news- We're working hard to put a Canadian F team together to make the trip down for the America match. Looking forward to seeing everybody.
There is also a very good possability of a 4 day long range F class program being added to the end of the DCRA Fullbore championships the week following Perry, in hopes of attracting those f'ers already in the vicinity. Anybody interested?

School starts back up by then probably. The schedule is not out yet for the fall 2012 semester, but going on past trends, I'd have to head back home after Perry.

I just shoot the Ohio State Midrange match yesterday and we had sling shooters on one end of the line and the F class shooters on the other. As long as you can squad sling with sling and F with F it is all good. If you must integrate, just have the pit boss and the line officer coordinate via radio. It is not a big deal at all. We all had fun and can lightly poke a bit of fun at each other, but that is part of the fun of going to a match. We are all shooters, and there is no one discipline more pure / harder or better than another. It is America by God and thankfully we have choices. I used to be a decent XTC rifleman, until my back and eyes got to be past 60 like the rest of me. Now I shoot mostly F and clang and bang. i would shoot it all if I physically could.

They finally get around to adopting F Class at the Nationals the year after my creaky old bod can no longer manage Prone. I would have finally had some motivation to try and make it to Perry.

There were some questions being asked on another site about what the schedule was for F-class at Camp Perry this year. I sent in some questions to the NRA. In case anyone here is interested, response below:

The program is still being written as we speak but here is a rough idea of what is planned.
F/O and F/TR will both be allowed to shoot in Long Range matches. This is an experiment to determine whether or not it is viable to add F-Class to the Camp Perry schedule. In other words, will competitors show up?
F-Class shooters will actually be shooting a Regional, but be shooting all the same courses of fire as the Long Range shooters. F-Class will be involved in all shoot-offs and team events but will be competing for their own awards.
F-Class will also be allowed to shoot the America Match.
A total of 48 F-Class shooters will be allowed entry. If we can fill those spots we will be in a better position to ask the OHNG to improve the range to add more firing points for next year. They are currently balking at doing so.
Next year (2013) I hope to add a Mid-Range High Power and a Mid-Range F-Class National Championship to the schedule. This match will be fired concurrently with High Power or with Long Range, I don't know which yet. It depends on from where I believe we will draw the largest number of shooters. Nothing is cast in stone on this yet.
